  1. hah. i scoff st such idle strolls. actually, i do, and would love to do some serious trekking, but havent penetrated the scene sufficiently to locate some trails free from the pestilent herds. hoping to break free soon though.
  2. yeah, i dont put an excess burden on my use of the word ski. it covers skiing and that seems sufficient
  3. this sunday im going for a walk in the woods from magome to tsumago... but ill be at takasu next thursday and next sunday.
  4. if u guys a planning some playtime out west, i'd like to try and hook up, too.
  5. but that mysterious 'H'? half-sized11? home-made11? hyperkinetic11?
  6. will anyone be of sound body and spirit on sunday for some riding action?? hmmm, maybe not likely.
  7. Quote: The US developed the first nuclear arsenal in WWII because it thought having bigger bombs than anybody else would be neat ocean, did u say 'neat'? not raggin on ya. i think its swell u can use language like that.
  8. Quote: Does anyone on this forum actually work in the oil business? I'm not talking about the local Eneos. The beauty of the internet is that its so easy to print/obtain/write "facts". The tough part is knowing which "facts are true, and which ones are lies. i studied it for a course in environmental issues at university. most of the facts r from a paper to a transport symposium in australia, regarding the future and means of adaptation for the transport industry.
  9. dude, the nonsensical babbling should only be shared with those of an eqivalent mental state. find a cushion, blanket and a corner and dont freak out your work colleagues.
  10. i hear u sparky! but u r always more likely to meet a free thinking american outside of america.
  11. Quote: While U.S. oil companies do not have official contracts to buy Iraqi oil under the Opec producer's oil-for-food programme with the UN, they can import quite legally through oil trading middlemen. i dont know how the current situation stands.
  12. Quote: We have more than enough oil in the US to meet our needs. There is plenty to be used from South America as well, so this fight isn't about oil. Its about good and evil. just to clarify on oil... american oil production peaked in the 70's creating the price instability of this period. the US imports 55% (up from 43% in 1993) of its oil (in 2000 9% of US oil imports came from iraq!). 75 of convententional (easily extracted oil) comes for 360 giant oil fields. these represent less than 1% of all fields. oil from fields found more than 20 years ago supply 90% of todays oil. n
  13. sssshhhh guys..... the non duckers r resting.... dont wake them up.....
  14. clag, now thats something u dont see often enough anymore. wet, lumpy glue with its own brush. just the sort of thing that is good for giving to kids.
  15. no way frannyo! i contemplated posting the same topic in almost the same words on thursday. i was all over the place. felt i couldnt balance. my ollie lost all its timing. i felt like a beginner again. i tried to improve my mood and give it another shot, but i reckon i was firing at about 20% at best. i gave up after 6 runs and waited inside for 3 hours for the bus. i think tiredness is very relevant. i have some annoying 'cold' thing that i cant shake. i stayed home yesterday, while my GF went riding without me. im not surprised people have 'bad days', but i never expec
  16. whoa those comments (on japan today) r a bit harsh. sometimes people do stupid things (some more often than others) and its unfortunate when it ends tragically. i guess people who feel they never behave foolishly (which is seldom true) feel comfortable saying "serves u right." [the post about snowboarders came after your post, indosnm.]
  17. ermmm, pretty complicated. 2 - 3 tblspn rice depending on size requirements. lge quantity of sugar (approx 2 heaped dessert spoons or is it tblspns? for 2 tblspn of rice) huge knob of butter (im sure about this bit). and, well, cover with more milk than u think is appropriate, about 2 cups for 2 tblspns, or maybe thats too much. stick in moderate oven in big flat dish till skin is brown (30-40mins or longer). serve with bit of milk or dollop of jam. im not what is considered a culinary master. the amounts vary. as do the results. (maybe the low expectations derive from
  18. black rice is news to me, but i have impressed many a japanese punter with a good ol' english rice pudding. they all expect it to taste awful, but r happily surprised.
  19. well, that was kinda the point i was trying to make. piscavegetarianism is really quite common, but not well labelled. often people dont eat eggs and or milk, but the terms ovo-lacto (or any combination) vegetarian are rarely used as a general description. and if one does bandy these terms about u may give the impression of being somewhat anal. i use vegetarian to get the idea out there that veggies r fine, meat is not desired, and then address the fish issue down the line if necessary. having identified myself in this manner, i can be reasonably confident (outside of japan) im goi
  20. there r many classifications of your level of vegetarianism. vegans eat no animal products. i call myself vegetarian, but enjoy eggs and dairy. u dont kill a chicken to eat an egg (please buy free range). but i eat fish Quote: But it's ok to eat fish Cause they haven't any feelings (although there r certainly issues which need addressing in the fishing industry) ive heard this makes me piscatarian, but i have no proof that this is actually a word.
  21. there is, its the chrea resort with one hotel. but maybe not the sort of place to take your kids (from june, 2001): Quote: Two protesters were shot dead in Chrea 600 km east of Algiers when a hotel owner opened fire on the crowd. The hotel was razed to the ground and the owner beaten unconscious.
  22. ill jump in on an old thread too, ray. i was riding a 167, but changed to a 156. i weigh about 65kgs at the mome. never really needed the extra length, but would use it in open mountain pow. ocean, the change from a long to the short is like the difference between driving an xb falon panel van and a 74 capri if u r planning more park time u gonna have more fun in the capri. but for the longer missions the van's the bizz. as my skills improve, i hope to move into some classier rides but this sums up the present situation.
  23. and when the dude from the city comes and knocks on your door to get u to pay the city tax, dont answer. its worked for me, so far... but they keep coming back...
