Hakuba SJ party
slow replied to Fattwins's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Sorry MH, I was thinking of driving up to Hakuba Friday night but other three girls can't drive (useless...) and two of them decided to come to Hakuba by train Saturday morning. I'm taking Shinkansen Friday night. How about fjef, he is not coming? There is a very cheap morning bus from Shinjuku on Saturday. http://nippon.his.co.jp/ski/orion2/bus15.htm http://www.sunshinetour.co.jp/ski-bus/m_tokyo-hakuba/schedule.html Or night train from Shinjuku on Friday(not cheap though), you'll get to Hakuba around 5am. When I did it two years ago, not so crowded and I could lay down on t -

Looks great and fun! I want to try this BC tour this winter. I should buy fat skis first though. -
Uh... Tim Tams is too sweet, I can't finish this by myself... I'll bring this to Hakuba for Fattwins.
-
I found TimTams at yamaya today, is it so good? Looks very sweet and too dangerous. I didn't buy it today even though I wanted to try... I'll have dark chocolate covered one tomorrow for my tea time.

Especially if you get the Pan de Campagne the day its baked. Mr Wiglles or other Hakuba locals, where is Murren? -

Snowstorm on Sunday and Monday, can I trust the weather forecast this time? I've got lots of food for this weekend and ready to leave my office now, I just can't finish my work yet though. Monkey, are you in Hakuba now? Kuma, you'll ride Happo this weekend? -

Do we need to buy tickets?? Give 200yen to the bus driver and get on, that's easy. 10:35pm and time to go to home... My last train from Shibuya is 0:45am, I can drink two hours longer in Tokyo than Hakuba. However, I remember I was drinking untill 4am the last time in Hakuba in April. Three snowmen from Friday to Sunday. Thankfully my skis will be tuned. It'll be a great weekend in Hakuba. See you guys there tomorrow night. fjef, will you and Kai be in Hakuba this weekend? -
Snow in Denver! My friend is stuck
slow replied to veronica's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Does Denver usually get lots of snow? When I was there in January 2004, I saw just a little snow on the road. Believe it or not, Sushi in Denver was soooo good. -

the shuttle bus daytime service between Goryu and Happo is still free. Genkigo runs only in the evening and it's 200yen. Am I correct? -

"mohnkuchen" is my favorite now.

Thanks everyone, my lower back is getting better after 2days easy skiing and relaxing in the onsen. I'm happy this pain didn't bother my skiing this weekend. I know I should but not going to see a doctor this time. Maybe next time, it'll be December 2007.

Kagura on Saturday was very beautiful day, very warm as well. Tashiro area just opened this morning and the snow there was good. Probably Kagura was the only skiable resort this weekend and got too many people. 2.5hours to get down the mountain, people who didn't want to wait for the lift for an hour was hiking up the slope and it was 6pm when we got the Mitsumata parking lot... I have never had experience like this before but skiing in the dark was fun. Sunday, it was snowing from 10am to 3pm, we had about 5-10cm coverage. Tashiro area was good condition all day an

You should come up to Kagura from Tashiro side, Mitsumata is not skiable and get too crowded. -
