Glasgow Survival Some things, no matter how much harm they bring, make me laugh.

I hated how they could spend 10 minutes covering a story of little significance, show the building every 15 seconds, the driveway leading upto the building, the front door etc and repeat the story more than once in that time. Maybe it was just the country areas like shizuoka that did that. Once I got to Tokyo I didn't have a TV.

well that solves it thenn.. To the uneducated, alcohol seems to be very uncomplicated. But add with 4 parts men and things often become messy, lead to loud and obnoxiuos behaviour, and more often than we care to admit lead to a hangover.

I was just going to say that Indo.. Gotta be first there in the morning cause if the heads not quite right and you have to put up with the smell of someone elses AGB it could lead to some worshipping of the porcelin bowl

Its coming up to a new season and the boards are out, waxed, ready to go. Is the mind though? Do you still think about a particular crash from last season and have reservations about doing something similar this year? My front binding came loose last year (the screws just didn't hold) and it felt really strange that my control had gone all over the place. Next thing I knew..whack, scorpion, ouch! New bindings needed.

How long did you?

I skied for 13 years and then stopped. Have been boarding for 10 years. -
Length of board
neversummer replied to Octavio Estrada's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I think all boarders would happily get into a debate about who has the more adequate 'stick'. Good length and great width is the case with most boards. Ski on the other hand can be percieved as a bit long and skinny..and whats the second one for?? -

well you know what they say..3 turns are better than 2 at an indoor centre.. -
love it db, love it. Ask it 'some banker' next time if he/she enjoyed the Apres Ski at Vail too.

Length of board

Quote: It's easier to learn on a larger board because you have a larger surface to stand on and longer edges for a bigger control interface with the snow Having a larger surface area to stand on has nothing to do with your ability to control the board, especially as a beginner. Widen your stance on a shorter board ie from 20inches to 24inches and you'll have more balance, hence control over any board. As a beginner, most people will have a tendancy to whip their boards around from heel to toe rather than edge to edge which I think is what you are refering to here Ocean Quote: The ver -

Length of board

...and the adjudicator says.. Its easier to learn on a smaller board because you have less surface area touching the snow, making you go slower. You also have less surface area outside of your feet (edge of binding to tip) so a smaller board is easier to control and move around. -
There are so many aspects to riding powder that make it by far and away the most sought-after snow experience. Looking down and seeing nothing thats not the way nature intended it to be. FRESH Face shots- there you go Fattwins. Leaning way back and watching the nose floating on the POW. Effortless carving on steep open bowls. Leaning way over, arm near head/ear. Looking back up, adrenaline pumping, and seeing your tracks. It doesn't hurt when you crash. I love powder, I'm a boarder and I'm sure a skier can give you their perspective on POW too.

4:30 Late starter-religion is bunk
neversummer replied to miteyak's topic in General off-topic discussions
I find it very hard to believe in Christianity. I don't know much about other religions as I'm not the slightest bit interested in them. The thing that gets me about Christianity is that so many people worship God and Jesus etc yet I've seen no proof of their abilities to manipulate life in the way it is claimed..I remember the parting of the sea, the bread and wine and curing leprocy from primary school (elementary school). As with all other myths in this world, we get to the age of about 12 and realise this can not possibly be true, we fantisise about it being true for a few more years -
1. A new techtonic plate below Australia forcing much higher mountains. That way you could be surfing and within 1 1/2 hr be at the snow. For those in OZ..Lakes Entrance to Mt Hotham. 2. Consistant snowfall throughout the winter evenings, turning to bluebird conditions at sunrise. 3. An never-ending abundance of all natural resources, allowing the world to repair some of the damage that has been created by global influences.

Paying for the unwanted war

Why does that country need rebuilding and stabilising? It didn't attack another country, it didn't move any of its forces into another country..it was attacked against all international laws. It wouldn't have needed rebuilding and stabilising had the above event not happened. That's my issue with the whole thing. My tax payer $$ is going the help something that wasn't necessary in the first place and as someone who isn't US, I don't have the ability to oust teh Bush Government. I've got no problem with providing $$ for causes like AIDS and famine because the need to be address -
Anyone seen the "Shawshank Redemption"?
neversummer replied to Markie's topic in General off-topic discussions
A fantastic movie with few if any flaws to my eyes. Tim Robbins played his part so well and like barok said, Morgan Freeman is so under-rated, in his ability to capture the audiences attention, portray the character like they are meant to be portrayed, yet he still hasn't recieved the necessary praise from the 'critics'. -
Who are the 10 you said yes??

Nah! It's a bit cold for that now. I look like a regular business man stepping onto the street.

What i meant db was that Japanese youth have a very different outlook on conforming with society. When you next venture to Sydney, NY, Paris have a look at how people dress. If its not 'cool' then you're not 'cool'. I love how you can get a way with anything in Japan, boots with mini skirt, beret and j-pop t-shirt. You wear that in Australia and people think you would be better committed to an institute. Admittedly it is very 'Japanese' and there is no way I'd go for some of their looks but I think it adds to the whole experience of a city like Tokyo.

You might have trouble there SerreChe but as has been said many times before there are heaps of SNB shops in Jimbocho/Ochanamizu..Toei Shinjuku/Maranouchi lines. You might find it cheaper to order one from the States, being that it will probably cost you around 75,000 yen plus tax for a Canyon and they were around $US480 last year. Just ask as many shops as possible. It would be easier if you had a Japanese friend to help though because someone may know where you can find what you need but you may not know where they are talking about. If you can speak japanese then it's much easier.
