  1. there was a huge rat in zwelgen's kitchen over christmas. it ate thru apples that were left out and puked all over the side of the fridge. we left some of those glue traps- best place was in the crack of a door so he had no cloice but to go thru. caught him. but it must have been very painful bc he pulled/chewed a leg off trying to escape. gross! luckily, i didn't have to deal with disposal or looking at him or anything (only viewed safely thru a digital camera). by the way, what is the proper disposal? burnables?
  2. heard there was a bomb at yale yesterday. dunno if its the result of some terrorist plot, but george sr and jr went there, and one of the bush twins is there now.
  3. either is fine, but i like it from a fountain. somehow a fountain coke is a way better hangover cure than one in a can or plastic bottle. of course the best is from a glass bottle if you are lucky enough to find it.
  4. better having it in the kitchen then in your shower room. my washer sits in the pool of runoff water from my tub.
  5. an atari keyboard with the cartridge slot right on it. i remember my sister got it for xmas, maybe like 1983 or something when she told santa she didn't know what she wanted. i was convinced if i told santa the same thing i would get a computer. but every year i would think of some new barbie i wanted instead. finally i got smart and just asked for a computer.
  6. love em, but hate it when i have a problem. right now my problem is not being able to charge my battery. very strange. not being able to use it for a few days has made me realize how much i need and want it!!
  7. my kitchen sucks! the room is about 3 tatami mats, plus a bit of lineoleum under the sink. but with a stovetop, there is absolutely no bench/coutner space! i have to balance my cutting board on the edge of the sink, sometimes i put pressure on the wrong spot when cutting and the whole thing falls over and i make a mess. at least my fridge is small so i can use the top of it for my dish rack and toothbrush/soap holder (no bathroom sink either in my small apt).
  8. one of my roommates in college worked at place called peace a pizza that sold gourmet pizzas by the slice- fresh basil and mozzarella, cheeseburger, taco, bbq chicken, etc. every night he would bring home the leftover pizzas- usually equal to like three whole pies. it was perfect for latenight munchies except i gained too much weight that semester. anyways, back to the topic- i have found one place in japan with pretty good pizza- normal toppings, cheesy, and big enough to fill you up (or maybe you are supposed to share it and not eat it all yourself). ocean11-- it was in suwa- dunno
  9. re burning a flag... I'm no lawyer or anything, but i remember studying about it in a government class in high school. it's perfectly within the US first admentment to burn the flag. it's freedom of expression and although some may find it really offensive, i think it's important that people have the right to do it. i don't think it's a pointless gesture bc if it makes people so angry, then that shows how powerful its message is. i think people should be free to openly critize their own government, esp thru nonviolent means such as flag burning.
  10. anyone living in the US seen the show extreme makeover? i keep seeing ads for it when i watch the bachelor. it seems these people crazy makeovers involving plastic surgery and who knows what else.
  11. db- the melrose place guy you look like is grant show. check him out here . whatever celebrity japanese people say you look like has nothing to do with your looks, but with the names of gaijin celebrities they know. sat night i walked into 7-11 with black charcoal cirlces covering my face as a result of playing the cow drinking game (burn a cork, brand people when they **** up). anyways, the cashier kept saying i looked like britney or christina aguilera. yeah right. i think it was just the short dress i was wearing.
  12. the march madness college tournament is always fun to watch. i love it when the 76ers do well. it was so great living in philly when they won the eastern conference two years ago.

  14. at my college your email was the first letter of your first name and then the first 7 letters of your last. one guy's email became abaldass...
  15. i dont get the big fuss about shogun. i've started it twice now and got about 50 pages in and didnt really care to continue. reading war of don emmanuels netherparts now. v enjoyable.
  16. what is it about japan and hangovers? in college i would be hungover just once in a blue moon- crazy considering how much i drank. but here, i drink way less and always seem to hurt like hell the next day. hmm, maybe thats the trick. i should start drinking everyday to avoid hangovers. but my worst was after my friend's wedding. weddings are dangerous bc of the open bar and celebratory spirit. this was especially bad bc my parents were at the wedding too and saw me in my drunken stupor. the next i was supposed to drive back 6 hrs to where i lived, but i was so nauseous i couldn't
  17. anyone read even cowgirls get the blues? just finished it and now i want to hitchhike all over japan. just done it once here. took a long bus to a ski field and hitched back in a third of the time. nothing special about the ride, couldn't speak much j at that point.
  18. there was a guy at my high school named reed story. and a friend from college named grant morehead. ouch- it's not even softened with 2 Os in more.
  19. zwelgen and i went to nozawa on sunday to get some cash for turning in our passes. it was so sad- rain was pouring down and there was hardly any snow on the mountain. i really couldn't take it. my season is really over...
  20. goemon- i recently burned cut & paste 2 and i love it. hmm, last i really cant remember the last album i bought... just downloading and burning away. much easier than shopping in a record store to find j songs bc i usually i just know the group name and not which song or album i want. got some good dragon ash and rip slyme now.
