i have a homestay family where the husband is an ob/gyn and his clinic is attached to their house. they are picture happy (imagaine that) and always take photos of me in front of the plants, paintings, and nurses in the waiting room. v interesting to see ashtrays there. for whom? the pregnant or new mothers? their husbands? strange.

fattwins- was looking for a cabin for me and a bunch of mates, but prices are looking too high since it's a peak time. oh well. thanks for those links though.

sf- asshole and shithead are two different, but kinda similiar games- asshole being a drinking game, shithead a more fun but sober game. i think circle of death is the drinking card game whammy.

last year when i was out the few days before and after xmas, the slopes were empty. at first the snow was crap, but it started dumping on the 24th i believe and we got pow for boxing day. work holiday doesnt start til the 27th, so thats when it'll probably get busy.

finally turned the heaters on at school been using mine and my kotatsu a lot lately. its getting cold up here.

he's not running out of material. he retired years ago to prevent that from happening. so there are just reruns in the papers nowadays. they're still funny though. i had a science teacher in high school who would put his cartoons on exams with extra credit points if you could answer a question about them. great way to relieve stress during the exam.

i love trivial pursuit and charades. played cranium a few weeks back and that was pretty fun. but card games are my fav- shithead, gin, cribbage, bridge. i'm like an ole lady.

yeah zwelgie- your accent isnt too hard to understand... well most of the time. mine's a bit messed up i think. it should be a southern drawl like my parents, but its way more valleygirlish. but sometimes when i meet other gaijin they think i'm british v strange and its happened more than once.

i'll be there for new years if i can find some info about cabins... anyone? anyone? plus several other weekends... cant wait for the first trip of the season.

1st was iizuna resort bc its the closest to me and was pretty cheap. 2nd was a powder day midweek at shiga with private lesson... thanks to a great homestay family who owns a hotel on the mountain.

in high school i used to collect banana stickers. sometimes chiquita and dole come up with cute limited editions ones- like in pics of animals eating bananas or slogans. i still like pealing them off and sticking various places- on my wallet or on the phone. and my fridge has a great collection of all kinds of fruit stickers.

zwelgie- youre far away, but read my mind. i think those dr peppers had maybe some cola mixed with the beer and amaretto. and kamakazes are good. anyone had a cucaracha? dont know whats in it but you light it on fire. but youre night- nothing beats tequila. though from experience, i would avoid doing a few tequila shots at the beginning of a second nomihodai. thats the recipe for the hangover from hell.

saw it, enjoyed it, will see vol 2. thought it was a bit gory (but wasnt that the point?) and i had to look away when the blood was really gushing. one thing that irked me was lucy lui's kimono-- it was beautiful but the obi looked kinda loose and low and just not right. was it? or was it just me?

i would get way annoyed if i didnt have the internet at work. nice little way to take a break rather than smoke a cig like most of my coworkers. and according to this it's not bad for workers.

so mogs- i got this from my friend about his 160gb drive... it's a "LaCie d2 160GB FireWire 400 (7200rpm) 300659" . 35,000 yen or there abouts. 7200 rpm (revolutions per minute) anything less craps out on video or audio. We got it from MJsoft in Tokyo http://www.iijnet.or.jp/MJSOFT/ - who will take furikomi - I don't reckon you'll find it in any stores. mogski- yeah you are going to need an external drive for video editing bc i think i read somewhere that you need at least 20gb free for processing all the data for something. i dont really understand all the stuff sunrise is talking about... too technical for me! but i've got an ibook and have an external drive hooked up and do all the editing in imovie bc its supereasy! make sure you get a big drive bc i've already filled up one and need another- my friend's got a better one than me (something about speed??) so I'll find out which kind it is and post it. looking forward to seeing some
