Just wondering, with the crazy amounts of snow we have had in Hokkuriku recently, many hills now over 4m worth of snow, what is Japan like for dealing with avalanches? When it gets this deep do they start blasting the mountain?

Great to see Kanazawa Seymour in there. I don't speak with any authority at all, but I've always found it to be a great place. Never too many people, a good variety of levels, and the snow was always good last season. Yet, it is only 30 minutes from a city on the coast. It doesnt, of course, rate with the good Nagano courses though. I've only been to Happo once, but I found the lines awful. I think the place is really great - the size is massive, but one particular lift I got stuck for 45 minutes each time, and it wasnt even close to the end of the day When is it gonna start sno -
Snow in Hakuba

Goryu got a bit last night Is it really coming or was this just a freak? Whats it like in Hakuba and other places in the Alps at the moment? btw I'm new to this forum and skiing in Japan. But I know that friends of mine were skiing on Happo at the end of November last year. Is this early and if so, do resorts open early if the snow really falls hard? cheers, can't wait
