  1. I was at a gig tonite and when we came back to our room after the first set there were chocolates set out near the guys' stuff. The agent is a woman. They thanked her, I said, hey, where's mine? She said it's valentine's day. That didn't even twig on me cos it's the first time I've ever actually seen anyone being given something, I've only ever read about it, heard about it, and seen chocolate for sale everywhere. That was funny!
  2. thanks PRB. good to hear. Nikon thread? I don't see that in the title....
  3. I think I'm going to need a new compact too. That D9 looks nice. I haven't seriously started looking yet, though. When I do I'll check out the others too....
  4. Ask them to change their plans. Tell them you had your plans before they changed there's and you've already paid for you ticket.
  5. we did have snow, but those only a few cms, those 10 predicted must have been for the hills outside town.
  6. I'll remember that one when my parents come out next! I think the switch-on fee is 2500 or 3000, I forgot now. Total scam. Then you just go with the cheapest monthly. But without a contract you don't get the 50% discount. If you take a contract you have to pay out if you leave it early. So straight off the bat it probably costs around 6000 to have a phone for the month. Plus calls, but of course the long calls can be made from your own phone. You can also send/receive SMS to docomo phones (and international if it's a foma).
  7. Wow, half and hour and the ground is suddenly all white! I read we might get 10cm overnight..... should be a great weekend in the mtns.
  8. there's a new album???? I'm only working on ideas at the moment..... album is still a ways away at this point. Once I have time to get back to the ideas I might send you a couple of works-in-progress if you're interested.... send me your latest email addy and I'll send you my new years audio cards I made. Your hawaii trip sounds good by the way...
  9. yo man, I'm at home too, working on a mix for a course I'm doing. The course is keeping me so busy I have no idea when I'll get up to the snow, but the course is great, it's worth the sacrifice.....
  10. It's supposed to snow here today, too (again!).
  11. I kept my other phone and turn it on whenever family come out, pay a month phone rental and the crappy NTT switch-on fee, then turn it off after they leave. Ultimately it winds up kinda costly but kinda not, and certainly the convenience of having that extra phone is more than worth it. I didn't know they had a kids contract! I guess they want to fry their brains earlier and earlier....
  12. read all about it here: http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/ (or hit the Japanese link if you prefer....)
  13. It works overseas. Handy if I need to pick up work calls from Japan when travelling. To receive an overseas call costs a bit more, but overall it's not all that much (unless you want to have lots of long conversations with people), anyway for me for the work calls it's worth it, it's not like I'm getting dozens of calls a day. I don't use it to make calls to Japan when overseas (I'll use skype for that!). It's also handy in case you need to make an occasional emergency calls within the country you're visiting. Or if you need someone to be able to contact you and there's no other way they
  14. are they going online invisible? or possibly blocking you sometimes?
  15. I switched to the new pricing system - my average monthly bill has gone down from just under 9,000 yen to 3,000 and something, not bad, especially for docomo! I switched over from my old MOVA to a GSM enabled FOMA, got the cheapest one on my docomo points so it was free. I actually looked at some other plans, thought about switching companies, but actually docomo was the cheapest for what I wanted. (I'm not doing internet, so I'm not sure about the net plans).
  16. It was beautiful to watch, a thick curtain of giant falling flakes. Snowed for awhile, made everything white and then stopped and started to melt.
  17. they built a mountain out a disney land/sea..... maybe we should all head out there.
  18. I have a friend who's a 'known' guitarist in Sydney and he flew to Tokyo to see two of his heros performing together at the blue note (of course I've now forgotten their names but I'll remember when I hear them!). Nothing wrong with that, I say!
  19. It wasn't snowing where I am earlier, but now it is, lovely! Big flakes drifting down gently.
