  1. Don't worry FT, I'l be here daily to come up with some shit for you SG - You cant just sit at a desk browsing away on a laptop. And nor can I go to the toilet and tap away in the cubical. Its like smoking, I keep reaching for the link every 10 minutes and have to stop myself. I have already told my boss I intend to us the internet for an hour per day. So now I have to keep it legit rather than tool around on the forum. The 20 minute limit is obviously only 4 minutes a day. Its impossible to take seriously. A lot of senior guys at work are taking the piss out of it alon
  2. Its a great peak, better than most in Chamonix and thats a big call. I'd join a team if they offered me the oportunity, in a flash (so long as I had a few months preparation training). But to clarify, I wouldn't be interested in the line these guys are after, thats a bit much. Check this clip out. I already posted it in the 'Its still summer...' thread http://www.filmfest-stanton.at/trailer/Aoraki_244sec.wmv
  3. >You are wrong again Spuddy. Polynesia, Micronesia and to a lesser exstent Melanesia do have many similiarities. Can you actually read? I never said that they didn't have similarities. I said that they have more differences than your ignorant 'nesias' comment implied. You seriously just dribble anything from your slack-jawed gob and then when it attracts a response you fail to comprehend that response. Do you talk really sowly whilst grinning like a fool and nodding slowly? "uh huuuuh, oookaaay, weeeell, why don't we just gooo-ahead and order you an little guuuuitaaaar" (grins, no
  4. Beanie - it wasn't a bad experience, just a resort experience. Perhaps it was dull as I was there alone and the terrain was not so great. I have to work out if my bindings are ok. My research says they are, but I'd like to know some simple release test to double check. Also, how do you stop really fast on skis? Is it my technique or am I taking for granted snowboard braking power. There were times I was going way to fast and any attempt to slow down was risking a crash. I tried just jamming on a side skid and couldn't pull it off. Quattro - Yes, lots of ski teams training in
  5. Damn, I just spent my entire free 2 hours this evening writing this post. Half of it might be wrong, I am not an expert at all in this stuff. 6. Well, I'll watch my mouth cause he's doubtless an infinitely better rider than I am or ever will be. But he almost 'hurt' his buddy below him. (although I'd guess that it was going to slide even just with #1 on it)
  7. That last shot is purposely breaking the rule of thirds.
  8. 4th November Hintertux Glacier in Austria (that's a ski resort) It was great to be in the snowy mountain environment again, pulling up in the car, freezing cold outside, getting your boots on. All the pine trees were loaded with snow. It was exactly like winter. Was easily -15C and some more for nasty wind-chill. I was really cold on top at 9am so I went in for a litre of beer and some pretzels for breakfast Call me a whinger, but after a day of riding lifts I was bored truckless. It is so monotonous and pointless. The image thing is also quite notic
  9. I am very easily distracted at work and so turn very quickly to the internet. It is going to be very strange just working without stopping all day. To be honest, it wont happen, I'll just have to walk around the block every 30 minutes. I am not paid by the hour and will do what I please with my time at work, so long as I perform. They are taking a blanket approach by applying the same rules to all types of employees. The 20 minutes also includes checking personal email. They claim to be capable of recording whenever an external website or non-company email is open. What a joke. 20

More to the point, if it doesn't show it then it isn't (a topo) Are you using a road map? BigRed - As a kiwi you might be disappointed by the terrain in Niseko: its like deep Utah pow on Australian mountains with Japanese trees. Your best bet is to take a good tree board and enjoy that aspect of the terrain rather than look for steeps in a naturally un-steep region (although, there are some steeps around the place
  11. >I can't say wether or not it's polynesia, micornesia, or another ..neshia we but we share a simiiliar culture. We have an expert in our midst's! Hint: There's a big difference between the various 'nesias'. Just ask Fijian about his Melanesian roots then ask a native from the Cook Islands about his Polynesian back ground. Have you actually met anyone from these places, or been there and engaged them culturally? All Asian are the same as well.
  12. I didn't say it was thousands of years old. I said it was introduced to Hawaii by the Portuguese in 1879, about 100 years after Australia was settled by the English. I also said that it is an adaptation of a mini Latin guitar that has been around for 100's of years prior to it becoming popular in Hawaii. As a seller of said small guitar, you should know that. One of my who-cares points is that you are selling a bit of modern Hawaiian culture well outside of Hawaii. I don't understand why a tourist would buy an obviously Hawaiian souvenir in Guam. If they do then they must be rather d
  13. I'm not going away, I simply have no choice but to stop using the internet for 12-14 hours per day. I don't have any say in it. And that means waaaaay less SJ posts, an unavoidable fact. This draconian overly restrictive Workers Council ruling will be challenged for sure. But I'm not pissing against the wind until it is. From Monday onwards I have 20 minutes of internet allowance at work per week. And forums are expressly banned and monitored with an activity log of individual activity being produced each month. For a guy like me, it will be quite shocking. Imagine having no dis
  14. Well gents and chicks, as I mentioned in another thread my place of employment starts monitoring external website usage and limiting it severely on a weekly basis as of Monday. This is a contractual agreement signed by each employee and once signed The Man will no doubt turn a blind eye until such time he decides to use cumulative breaches against you in an attempt to sack, should it suit their bigger strategy. Irrespective of seniority, they are quite serious (the joke is, I am actually quite senior, don't let my posts confuse you). The upshot is that I wont be an SJ player from work anym
  15. Plucky - you should try driving in Italy, its the biggest thing that puts me off hanging out there: they go just as fast as Germans except have none of the orderly precision and coordination of German drivers. In Italy they are flat out fast and aggressive and 1 inch from your bumper serving around and flashing their lights. The driving is testosterone immaturity at its best (sorry to any Italians, you are all very cool dudes until you get in a car). And this all happens at 180-200kph on a jam packed freeway. It makes German driving seem fast and sedate in comparison. Agree about tr
  16. I had lunch with a female coworker. There is a common meeting g point for workers lunching together, its near a cheap sculpture of an overweight cook. People say things like "I'll see you at 12.30 by the fat cook". She sent me an email asking if 12.30 at the 'dick koch' was ok. To a German, that's stout cook. To me, its a place called Dick Cock. I agreed to meet her at the dick koch and then giggled like a little boy for 2 minutes.
  17. In another thread last year or so, the little guitar salesman said he dressed up as a priest twice a day for years. I think it takes a certain type to play dress-ups for money.
  18. Hey, have fun. If you take some VB and forget the lifejackets you will be able to defend you fish killing on the grounds of Australian cultural practices, just like Eskimos do! I have killed lots of fish in my day. Its called eating. All animals do it. Problem is that demand is beating sustainable supply. I think 2 billion perople need to die. It is a natural resolution of a clear problem.
  19. >Plucky, are you sure people are really jealous of your gas-guzzling American Jeep? In seriousness, I reckon they would be at least admiring it. Germans love cars and especially powerful engines and driving at a fuel wasting 200kph, even I do. Germans are obsessed with cars and not one of them appears to give a flying F about carbon emissions nor wasting a depleted resource. If behaviour is any indication, its a non-issue in their minds and a quick look at any packed autobahn will prove it. Driving 500-1000km in a weekend at 200kph is a perfectly normal thing to do, without any hin
  20. So who on this forum are from the Hakuba POW crew? (I wanna know before I say anything rude ) I didn't watch it all as I have limited monthly bandwidth. And the music challenged me, but it was 2002 after all Check this clip. Naughty #2 drops in directly above #1. http://hakubapow.com/page5/page7/page7.html
  21. Last weekend where I camped it was +7C. Same place tomorrow it is forecast to hit -17C. Soubs - Have fun in Bali
