BC pack
woywoy replied to Kingofmyrrh's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
What do you guys reckon about the Haglofs pack in the above link??? -
I am buying some BC Gear from a site in the states and they said they will write down the value of the gear to 50% for customs purposes etc. I think the total amount is around 400USD. I wondered if anyone had had experience in importing this kind of stuff and if the customs/duties are significant ... Thanks in advance.

Looks really nice Wiggly. Where exactly is that? -
What are you talking about Tsonda ... Last time? The water is warm for a long time yet. You will be fine until about November I reckon. Just get a short-sleeved wetsuit. I had sweeet waves in Izu last week just after the typhoon. 4-5 feet, offshore and really nice. Not crowded either.

Nice stuff guys ... I just had a week down in the Yaeyama islands, deep south into Okinawa-ken. Super beautiful down there too. -
What will you be doing there farquah? I would love to know where are the places to stay etc. etc. I am going to Okinawa over the summer to do a week of island hopping and camping but it will be Yakushima next year for sure. Any info greatly appreciated!
-
Farquah ... Tell me more about surfing in the Chiba area. I have surfed a bit at Hebara and have got good waves there quite a few other times. What are the other spots and how far from Tokyo on a Sat morning?
-
OK, so I am also planning a trip to Okinawa later in the year. Probably have a week to ferry from island to island with backpacks, maybe tents too, although minshukus might be another option. Who has been? Is it worth going to the mainland or is it just a mini-Tokyo? I hear the Ishigaki area is nice but Miyako etc. is good too. Snorkelling, diving, swimming, relaxing and touring some of the cultural sites is our plan for the moment. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

South of Kyushu mate. Really beautiful, ancient forest that I think is now a World Heritage area.
-
Dizzy ... How was it? I need some details on the place to plan a trip for later in the year.

Where are your pics tsonda??? Tell us more about the bushwalking ... -
How do these two singles pushed together work Kintaro??? Japanese women seem to prefer that kind of arrangement ... Not very popular elsewhere though.
