  1. Anything offered in english I could suffer through the japanese but I would miss about half of it my Japanese is not as good as it could or should be.
  2. I live in kyoto where do you want to go i mean how far do you want to travel, where do you live. I have skied out of here for 3 years goig on 4 so I can help post back.
  3. Ok I agree and disagree. I have done AET eikaiwa kindergardens and helped train Japanese english teachers. First the Jet program is a good Idea but there are problems one being that they are often puppets to the Japanese teacher. Another is they are mostly teaching through games. Of course the fact that the students get to meet someone other than a Japanese person is good. We have to remember alot of these schools in Jet are in the middle of nowhere. One thing I think the Japanese education system and ekaiwa system could do better with kids iis to teach them how to read. It is much easy to
  4. Where ever you go in Mid November will not be good. Im sure Noth Hokkaido has somesnow but there are not too many resorts up there that can justify opening up so early. Best bet go to whistler in Canada youll get a good deal and good sking.
  5. Look up this site its pretty cool its In Motion Good for any active sport ski snowboard skating inline you name it check it out.
  6. Spent too many years ski bumming so I have confidence that I can ski everything and jump anything. I would say Im good but not the best.
  7. I cant imagine how the ETC will help Tokyos problems when it comes to traffic. When there is a one hour Q to get off nothing is going to help. buy the 50000 highway card good for 2 years and you get a extra 8000 yen on top of the 50000.
  8. I agree with the fashion remark Ocean we have and are still coming up we Bad trashy fashions. I look at the ski race fashions and laugh its made for people with to much money and 18 different colors. Brands like Bogner cost as much as outfitting the average riding snowboarder will spend on everything. But by far the worst clothing was the late 80's early 90's Neon crap that was FU>>>>>>ed. I remember people in Japan 8 years ago dressing like animals or samurais what was with that. Still we have those people in clubs sking around the whole mountain all looking
  9. Ski switch and landing switch are not hard just practise it. As for how fun it is it makes a crappy bunny run all that more interesting.
  10. Got myself a Giro Carbon pattern. started wearing mine 5 years ago after a bad drought in Dec. Had a bad feeling one day so I put on my old speed ski slash racing helmut. My friend then rolled over a rock. The helmut has never come off.
  11. Surprised to see how many Japanese are logging on to an all english site. SGJ still kicks the reat of the Japanese sites AS>>>>
  12. As I just checked out the stats for last year I was surprised to see how well snowboard is growing in Japan. Snowboarding shold beat skiers next year at a few more resorts.
  13. Ocean good thinking. If you want to improve you have to ski ride as much as possible no matter what the conditions. I relish everyday no matter what if its hard I ski fast or stay in the park. When it pow I ski everywhere. In the spring i ski bumps trees and soft wind blown snow. When I was bunning at this resort there was this run at the top of the mountain 40 plus degrees but half the time it an inch of wind blown crust on it. Every turn was hop punch through hop punch through, one mistake of balance meant crash. But that sking gave me balance and though me how to focus all my energy to t
  14. Me always open the season in happo or 47. Happo just always gives me great early sking and the lineups are much better than 47. Plus good party over new years. But for you guys who said Dynaland where do you live me kyoto I spend a good amount of time up around that area Takasu and Dynaland do you want to hook up. I have been sking there for 3 years and know many hiden spots around the area.
  15. When you go to the places where the young ones hang out there are bound to be problems. In the Takasu shiratori area it is a problem as much as the traffic jam is. I ski so I always split up my skis with my friends or wife, it works relitivily well. back home we have these small locks that fit into a certain type of rack, then you can slide a metal bar into the lock and the skis are safe. The bar is about 5 to 6mm's thick. The same thing is offered to snowboarders too. the lock is about 7 cms long and about 3 cms thick.
  16. Yeah cant wait for the yearly trip to Happo and the surronding hakuba area. already watching the vides I made last year too much. bring it on.
  17. Ok OB is what canadains refer to as Out of Bounds. As we do have park Rangers up our ass to stay in bounds, most resorts groom a cat track exit for OB runs maybe thats why we call it OB. Back Country to me is hiking and sking and possibily not coming back to the resort. But Hey I just confused myself. As to Cortina and that day, I would call that slop. Remember Ocean that it is very hard to groom anything over 30 to 40 % you need a winch cat. Moguls are formed by everyone. On steep pitches after a powder day as we compact the snow they just happen. I for one hate it when everything gets groo
  18. I not thinkihg new boots this season I finally got my boots fitting well. Dam EEE feet.
  19. Let us see.. Im pretty sure powder will win but I will leave this poll open to many options.
  20. Look and listen go up a lift in B.C. Canada and if you dont smell dope than something is wrong. In Canada we dont care smoke it dont smoke it. Smoke it just outside the bar you dont have to hide. I skied with Victoria Jellouse's father for 2 years and skied with him on vacations and will I wont finish that sentence.
