Resort name origins?
brit-gob replied to veronica's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Hunter Mountain is the name of a resort in NY, USA....taken from there. -
Just got the new Moby album this morning. First impressions - similar kind of thing as Play, some old blues/gospel singing on there mixed with Moby style music. Certainly not immediate - but Play certainly wasn't either and thats one of my fave albums of the last few years.

Boarder fashions
brit-gob replied to monkeyz's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I reckon the "bikini" look will be in next season, with Kylie Minogue as the new snowboarding (lack-of-material-needed-to-make-) fashion trendsetter. -

Kagura worth the trip?
brit-gob replied to rach's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Looks like they're open until May 12th up Kagura - but how are you to get to Kagura if Mitsumata and Tashiro are closed??? -
Before Japan....
brit-gob replied to birdbrain's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Scotland interests me. Again, even though you may think so from my name, I'm not British. But Scotland always interests me. I think its the story of the fried battered Mars bar that is so intriguing. Must go someday. -

brit-gob replied to xxx's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Are people saying it's gonna be a hot one this summer or not? Anyone know? -
Got to admit, I'm none too impressed with the line up this year. Perhaps theres some big names to be announced later on....?

Off topic, but - World Cup predictions

I reckon France will be the final winners. Outside chances for the last 4, Portugal and England. -
A matter of life and death....
brit-gob replied to cal's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Oh no, here we go again I suppose I am accepting of decisions that have been made by a ski resort and the way they do business, yeah, ocean. I'm not about to get stressed out over something so unimportant - just go to another resort mate and chill out. I thought it was interesting to read what a patrol guy had to say about it all. Perhaps ARAi mountain just don't want ocean11 to be on their hill. Sorry for wasting space on your forum, ocean - I will try to be more constructive in posting messages, as you always are. -
skiing down fuji this year?
brit-gob replied to spired's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
What's the deal with this? Do people actually do it? ..... tell me more please! -
A matter of life and death....
brit-gob replied to cal's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Whether they "have a proper system" or not is surely their own business decision, n'est pas? It's a decision they've made. Have you ever thought that they might just now want to deal with the whole issue, and attract a different breed of rider? -
Not too impressed with the line up yet - will there be bigger names added. Pet Shop Boys???!!?

Off topic - best roller (jet) coasters in Japan
brit-gob replied to james-1's topic in General off-topic discussions
Steel Dragon is really good. That and Suzuka make Mie a great place for coasters - better than what Tokyo have. I read that Korakuen in Tokyo will be opening a hyper coaster (over 200ft) and a big wheel WITH NO SPOKES - and the new coaster going through the middle of the big wheel - in 2003. Phew -
