"Tsumaranai mono desu ga..." Isn't that the one you say when you give someone a present, meaning something like "this is really boring, but here you go anyway"! That cracks me up. Do you say that even if the present is the most amazing present EVER?

My friend was up there yesterday and said while the snow was still in a decent condition, the weather wasn't very good - and very poor visibility.

Mine was not in Niseko (even though I went there), but in Zao, Yamagata. 30cm the night before, blue skies - a perfect day.

I was in Gunma today - the 2 resorts I saw - not at all busy. not the biggest of places, but if they are anything to go by, you shouldn't be too badly off.
