  1. You have a better memory than I seemore, but I do remember they had a small artificial slope set up where the public could have a go as a load of workmates and I braved the brush! May have talked shit with you that evening in the "Prince of Teck" - I was the rumbo-swilling Scotsman wearing a brand new Pheonix Goretex jacket, carrying a pair of 213cm Volkl Renntigers!!
  2. The one below the portal (above the Sony) is quite obviously a minituarised iPhone 6 bent to a comfortable position around the wrist !!
  3. Yes, may change tact next week. Yesterday I had my 600 cal quota in one hit at brekkie. Probably better to spread it throughout the day. I seriously had some weird dreams about food lol.
  4. Hoooeeee! Yeterday was tough. The word "hungry" doesn't even come close. I nearly cracked in the evening but stuck it out. Today is EATING day!!
  5. Bought a top of the range Pheonix Goretex jacket with lining by Neidhart of Switzerland for 200 pommie pounds at the London Ski Show at Earls Court in 1989 !!! Still going strong - black with (fading) yellow and pink shoulder panels. Outstanding quality and the warmest jacket I have ever had. An English bloke working at Goryu last season told me that they were even worth a bit now as the retro look and quality were making them a bit of a statement. Mind you, I was the only one making that statement in the whole of the Hakuba Valley as far as I could see. Funny, I remember also
  6. Totally agree Peetan. I'm sure I'm not the only one on here who is disgusted by some of the man-made squabbles and resulting deaths going on in the world today - Syria, Iraq etc. Our time here is short and should be used positively. Nature can and will cull us whenever - not unlike the Monty Pythons foot !!!!!
  7. Decided to start it as a 6:1 with the usual addition of eating more sensibly on the normal days. Even without the fasting day I can normally knock off the kilos by ramping up my cycling intensity / total k's and eating more sensibly. It's the lowering of this IFG1 that really interests me although I'll probably not get it checked in the near future.
  8. 93kg this morning, so that's my starting point. Have been getting down to 85 or 86 in recent years when really clocking up the k's on my bike, but with current massive work commitments draining my time resources I'll target 88kg for January 9th when we fly out to Happo. Going to try Tubby's 5:2 diet starting tomorrow. Tubby, did you clear it all with your GP first? or just dive in?
  9. Just had my first gym session in ages followed by a swim. Feeling great now but will probably be a bit stiff tomorrow.
  10. Turning skiers left off the top of the Cosmo Four lift at Goryu, there it was: a particularly meaty looking GS course with some serious looking 20-somethings banging through the gates at a hell of a rate of nauts. Well, it had only been 22 years since I last raced and it's obviously like riding a bike, thought I, so why not?? I just wish I had been warned about the Invisible Tradie of Goryu. You know , the one who skies alongside you after gate 2 and blow torches your quads with an acetylene cutter forcing you to retire to the café doing a very good impersonation of Billy Connolly's dr
  11. Ha ha ha - yeah, it sounds like he'd been smoking a good wad of what the Greens would like to legalise. Can't quite see Christine Milne as Public Enemy No. 1
  12. I'm hearing you JA. Another sign of ageing is simply the pace at which you can accelerate training. In my judo days in my 20's a 3 week burst of crazy training prior to a tournament would do the trick. By contrast, today now that my latest back injury is very much "on the mend" I'll have to slowly try a little bit at the gym, then a bit more, then back on the bike for a low stress "roll out", then a bit more, all the while introducing dietary improvements - probably going to try Tubby's 5:2. Any attempt to try the old "dive in and flog it - no pain no gain" tactics will simply
  13. Suncorp Bank selling at 92.33 this morning. Not sure if that's as good as it's going to get (and so buy more Yen today) or hang out and see if the dollar bounces again?
  14. Beautiful sunny morning here in Brissie with an expected high of 28 before a very nasty looking storm hits later this arvo.
  15. Can't drink what I used to: Not even close now mate. Some grey hairs: All shades of grey (definitely not a literary reference) Gradually get less mobile: Sports I've had to give up due to ageing; football; judo; distance running; squash Love of fried food: Never diminished Love of beer: Increased appreciation with age (if less ability to handle it) {the above may/may not be true about sex} The real biggie has been simply whenever any given situation has demanded a "No, can't do that anymore" judgement. And they're getting more frequent. Such is l
  16. I'll qualify my following points by saying that I am an absolute amateur / total beginner in the world of smartphones. However, I recently purchased a Nokia 635 which runs with the Windows 8.1 os (Microsoft now own Nokia) and I have found it to be brilliant for my needs. It cost $239 off the net unlocked and I use the Amaysim prepaid unlimited package which gives unlimited calls and txt's within Australia & 5 Gig of data per month for $45. Very happy camper
  17. Just read this whole thread. Awesome stuff Ippy. I agree with the other postees who suggest you should formally serialise your adventures. Very entertaining stuff.
  18. Certainly works for weight loss then! I'm becoming more and more convinced.
  19. Please let me know how it's going? ie. How long have you been on it? Noticeable benefits etc. I saw a doco about it the other day and I'm very, very tempted. The drastic lowering of IFG1 sounds like a smart move and I'm going to ask my GP for his view.
  20. Hey Tubby, are you on one of those "eat 5 days - fast 2 days" diets?
