  1. I'm betting your get a knock from the NSA now that PRISM has picked up the term rice cooker. DAMN!!!! now I'm on the list.
  2. cotton is the worst for a ski sock - just ends up getting damp (especially if your feet sweat a bit) and then turn damn and cold. The thin wool ones do get dampish but they tend to stay warm. I have a several pairs of smart wool ulta thin ski socks. I rarely have a problem, even when very cold (-25c at furano being the exception - that was freakn COLD!)
  3. I have a Google nexus 7.2. Awesome little beastie that I use for my daily commute and travel. I tend to just download youtube (and bit bittorrent) videos and magazines straight to it for watching later. No middle layer like itunes in the way. The Andriod 4.3 op system is vastly superior to the previous android versions (which to be honest, where a bit clunky). This one actually works! Fantastic screen resolution. I'm afraid I've never been an i product fan as I don't really like being told what to do by a man in black svivvy. Its too much sony's attempts in the 90's to lock everyone int
  4. I always struggle to remember which one I like everytime I go back to Japan. So I always seem to end up with some version that laced with condensed milk so sweet you can barely drink it. blah.
  5. If this doesn't get your snow stoke on I dunno what will! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Pl23qisQqUs
  6. I've found the following always works for me (unless its -25c!). A good quality thin wool ski sock. (currently using a pair of smartwool ski socks that don't bunch up) I my put socks on just before boots go on so socks are 100% dry and at least semi warm (ie. I haven't walked around lodge/apartment in them all morning with them getting sweating or damp) Well fitted boots with footbeds so I don't have to clamp the boots shut like a spaceship airlock. I have noticed a few Japanese using what looks like a wetsuit for ski boots (goes across the front and top of their boots to keep the s
  7. as a regular public transport commuter I can really relate to that. Having to listen to someone talk about Aunty May's hermoroids for 20 mins was just the end for me. I then made the best investment ever for communting - Active Noise Cancelling Headphones.
  8. damn. looks like a chair lift turned into a tiki hut. All they need is a bar on each chair with tiki glasses full of some sort of pineapple and rum combo and you'd be set to go - have a slide, drink. Repeat all day. Could be a winner.
  9. thanks for the report, all good info. Like Sea Eagles its my first trip to Nozawa (but not japan). Looking forward to the crazyness of crowds over the xmas / new year period - should be pretty unique compared to the usual boring old fireworks on sydney hardbour.
  10. skier... 30 years. The thought of traversing over to some of the stuff I've skied on a board is horrifying. That said, a board sure looks like 110% fun in pow.
  11. Ahhhh. One of those sorts of forecasts. You'd think I'd know better after 5 ski trips to Japan. *doh*
  12. I did the first few days of Sept at Perisher with the family - 15C each day! tee shirts and sunblock. crazy. but I did have a lot of fun with tribe. I wont get a season pass in oz - the seasons are too fickle. Looking forward to nozawa in late dec!
