  1. The most awesome of the awesome, MT GRANDVIEW!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to pencil that in for a 2015 ski trip so I can experience all its savory delights!
  2. Sharknado. pure gold. Cant wait for the follow up, Avalanche Shark! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUl9pCZ6edw
  3. well if that doesn't give you some winter stoke nothing will. Great stuff.
  4. Phhht. don't kill sharks. Kill whales. They're tastier.
  5. No sleep caffeine de sampler - try every coffee in the the vending machines at Suwako rest/truck stop on the Chuo expressway. That would be an impressive feat!
  6. Is she the skiing hooker? bit like the flying nun only a hell of a lot more fun!
  7. Love the box. I used to peek at the phone box thread for the last few years even tho I wasn't a member here.
  8. Super hot curries are all good until they go johnny cash on you the next day! I fell in to a burning ring of fire I went down, down, down and the flames went higher. And it burns, burns, burns the ring of fire the ring of fire.
  9. a mate has some of those liquid crystal googles with the camera in the centre - cyclops cam if you will. Easy to use with big buttons so no gloves off in -15c. And no penis extension sitting up top of your helmet like a go pro (that seems to get knocked out of direction when tree skiing). That said, teh LC google is ok. The big problem we noticed is that the colour washes out when its sunny - everything just looks overexposed when you review the footage. His is a few years old now so perhaps the new versions have solved that problem.
  10. Done in my best Colonel Kilgore voice..... I love the smell of snow in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill snowed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' Aussie snowboarder. The smell, you know that Aussie Boarder smell, the whole hill. Smelled like Victory....
  11. I just noticed that I now have a NHK Channel on my cable service here in Oz! Does that mean the NHK guy is coming to hassle me and demand payment? Will he steal my children and undertake nefarious activities with my missus? Dear Dr Phil Snow Japan, please help!
  12. I wonder if they're planning for the life scenario just like in "Thank You for Smoking" if they get kidnapped, stuck with a zillion nicotine patches and thanks to heavy smoking they survive and can state "smoking saved my life"? I have noticed that ciggies are pretty cheap in japan compared to australia (and some other western countries) so perhaps that's they're all mad chuffers.
  13. noz forecast is predicting light snow on sunday. I think I better book now so i don't miss out!
  14. I've found the snow mobiles in Japan to be vastly under-powered compared to Canada. Most of them couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. and the guides in Japan never want you to go crazy alaWinter Vac's comment re pottering around at 7kph (tho we did get to bomb the pow over golf course in rusutsu on the "extreme" tour - extreme it was not ). Whereas in Canada, they're all for you going all out and trying to kill yourself.
  15. thanks all, I should be able to find a cab now. I did think of getting the train to the station nearest the hotel (Higashiginza, about a 300m walk me thinks...) and then wheel the bags to the hotel but I'll probably just nab a cab. Wont have the skis as we are going to get them couriered back from Nozawa to the hotel. However if we send the big bags back with the little black kitty as well as the skis we might just train it a few stops to Ginza or just walk.
  16. I have taken PE's advice and booked now! (well actually last may so I was uber early)
  17. When we come back from Nozawa in jan we are getting the Shinkansen back to Tokyo to spend 3 nights there. We need to get from Tokyo station over to Courtyard Marriott in Ginza with a couple of bags in tow. I gather a cab wont be too expensive as it isn't a large distance so we might opt for that. I've been looking at lots of maps etc but I'm stuffed if I can find which side(s) of Tokyo station the cab rank is. For those who are more local than me.... just where is the cab rank?
  18. 30000¥ I think. My calculator has also returned this answer. Besides, its on the internet so it must be true!
  19. *doh* your right... Rice cookers are completely different to pressure cookers..... (All of this just confirms that I shouldn't give up my day job for a career in stand up comedy) So..... In a effort to get back on topic..... I've never used a rice cooker. Just what is the difference between a 20000¥ and a 50000¥ one?
  20. You totally lost me there, what does that mean?! the 'mericans are pretty much intercepting everything written, texted or discussed on the phone these days using a massive data troll program called PRISM. Rice Cookers were used by the Boston Bombers to create an explosive device that killed people at the Boston Marathon. You can bet the term "rice cooker" appears on an NSA analysts hit list of data to troll on a regular basis....
  21. I can here my 20 yr and 18yr old saying "Never heard of him". I think my fav Velvets song would be Sister Ray. its kicks!
