  1. Just spent the last hour reading every page of this thread. Awesome stuff Ippy! I don't think I could teach.. My wife does it here and I respect anyone that does. I hope another good job just falls in my lap here if/when I decide to work...
  2. I've never seen this at any resort I've been to, Japan or otherwise, but have been the missle myself once. I didn't loose my gear. I was a beginner boarder (read first time) and went down the slope straight. Didn't veer off, didn't fall. Just bombed the run as a 7 year old going 45mph down a blue run. Almost took out like 3 people and had to eat it at the bottom to keep from running into the outdoor patio section fence. Later on an anouncement went of about it, I recall. About not doing what I just did haha. I remember it hurt a lot. I keep from "hanging out" in the heavy traffic areas lik
  3. Went from 80cm to 50cm of base in 2 days of melt. Sad sad times here in Mutsu. Went boarding yesterday and there was lots of exposed ground and really bad slush. Still had fun trying out the new board but much sadness as I don't know how many decent days of riding are left with the weather so warm and the rain we're getting pelted with. Was going to go today but stayed too long at onsen and we had evening plans.
  4. Seen a few decent movies recently. Frozen- New disney movie. Very progressive in a lot of ways, strong female leads, and 'prince' who is ok with her being so strong, a gay couple (neatly "hidden") , and feel good songs (I'm ok being the way I am kind of thing) Catching Fire- Second Hunger Games book/movie. Read all the books way back when. Good adaptation. But reminded me how sad the story was in the first place. Not a lot of happiness and not a movie for preteens and below. Lucky Number Sleven- Very violent and gory movie with bunch of strong actors- Freedman, Willis, Liu, Hartne
  5. When you reply to a ton of topics, then immediately hit refresh to see who replied So did it arrive? to sort of quote someone who post about the avi thread, photos or it hasn't happened. Yes and it's awesome. I took a few pictures but they're not on my phone. Did an enkai last night which turned into a sleep over. Soon though
  6. Lots of strong winds here last night. Most of our snow is melting, but we have so much of it, it won't completely go away. I hope the mountain fairs better. 85cm base to 60cm base today with a high of 4*. My board came today so after it cools and I scrape the wax off I'm heading out. Hope its decent riding...
  7. I clicked on the thread to say "Pics or it didn't happen" Well done sir... well done. :worship: :worship:
  8. That poster on the trains is funny. French guy in a beret. Should be a mime smoking a cigarette and holding some bread.
  9. I thought 720p would still do a 16:9 aspect ratio. Not important, just noticed it after watching over a dozen of your videos. I was pulling at straws with your night setup. Knowing me, I'd try the same, leave the car on, then have the snow cover the exhaust and die in my sleep >.>, I guess all that with the girlfriend there makes it comfy enough. Probably warmer there than it is in our appartment at night. Surprisingly it is 5 here today and all my glorious snow is melting! BWAAAAAAH
  10. You constantly refresh the forums to see if they're back up! Seriously, I've done it over a dozen times in the past few hours. Can't be out on the slopes till tomorrow so until then I just satisfy myself reading about others... Glad we're back!
  11. Reminds me of the asteroid escape in star wars episode 5, you dodging all those branches! Out of curiosity, what settings on the gopro are you using? looks like a 4:3 aspect ratio, so I don't know if you decided on that resolution in need of higher FPS or what. Also which gopro model? You leave the car running at night with car danchi too? Bunch of random questions at once, sorry! Your videos excite me since I don't get my board till Saturday.
  12. I'm with ya Tubby. The toxicity of the meat ALONE should be enough to let this tradition die out. It's perplexing to me in how hard they are trying to keep this and the whale hunt going. Nobody really wants it when you consider the alternatives. Oh gee....I think I'll take a break from the Angus top sirloin or wagu beef today...... for an nice cut of toxic cetacean nondescript chuck steak..... Don't think so.. Perks of being an apex predator! Imagine if someone ate the meat of a middle aged human from a first world country.
  13. Why do you do that?! I wake up early and just leave the tv on... I don't pay attention to it the whole time. Just have it in the background while I get the futon put up and get breakfast going etc, leave it on while I sit down and surf the web. And as for what TB says, I've seen much worse in slaughterhouses for sure. This is just something people can walk up to and record so it gets big news. Not saying it is right or wrong, just easily broadcast to the world. Only recordings you can get in slaughterhouses (which again, are way worse in a way) are those who sneak cameras in. K
  14. Look forward to it. My grandparents have their hands on my good boots and bindings back home so I don't expect to see them until the middle of next month. Until then I'll have to ride with a soft busted boot. Are there any stiff bindings that aren't all metal?
  15. I watch the news for a few hours most mornings.. There hasn't been anything on ZIP.
  16. They kill dolphins like they kill fish it would seem. I haven't seen much more biased writing about the "killing" and "massacre" and "brutality" than I have surrounding this story. It really paints it in a pale light. I've seen simillar when talking about wars around the world. Its easy to abhor, but there are different perspectives to it. Someones rebellion is another's revolution. Been to a bunch of dolphin rescues in Florida and a lot are born in captivity. I suppose the one's they sell are to zoos and such around the world. I understand it's traditional but you could say th
  17. Most american calendars go from the current year (say January 2014) through the whole year then another month or two (say February of 2015). Gives lazy people time to get off their asses and go buy another calendar. Although I rarely see paper calendars in use anymore. Still. Some epic pictures there
