  1. Yeah I got the feeling of not waiting in lines even on pow days in japan mid week. Was awesome not having to wait. It's just not fair I tells ya!
  2. Awesome video again Mike. EPIC jealousy at the moment :-( 1 week of Japow this year was just not enough for me.
  3. Top post pan-head. Covers most things you need to know if you're going on a ski trip to Japan. Re Liquid tours, some mates and I picked up a Jestar/liquid tours package this year to Hakuba staying at the Lab for 6days on the snow. Accommodation was more like a backpackers but the people running it were really nice and helped out as much as they could. Made for some large nights out with the team at the Lab and the owner of liquid tours (28yr old wanker). All that aside, for $2100 for flights from Melbourne (normally $700-1200 depending on sales), transfers to and from the airport, acc
  4. Those barriers are in nearly every snowboarding movie that is shot in hokkaido. I'm sure they look like more fun than they are in real life.
  5. Anyone got some recommendations on good gortex pants that cope well with the occasional rain session in Oz?
  6. All we need now is a Ho!Bag. Those douchebags look good. On a side note, had to replace my bindings with a new pair due to the rachet braking on my ride capo. Picked up some burton cartel from dogfunk, 20% off.
  7. The views were amazing, it truly is a resort that is worthy of the international stage. It's not on the scale of whistler or chamonix, but they would be more like if hakuba had all its runs on one mountain.
  8. Actually the more I think about Happo the more I think of it like Disney land. Don't get sucked into the "popular" areas and you will avoid the lines for the lifts.
  9. Hit up happo, got the legs working with some long runs top to bottom of Risen right the way down into Nakyama. Forgot how massive this resort is. We progress across the resort from left to right, encountering some craters for moguls in both the Olympic courses. (What is with the Japanese and their obsession with moguls?) We decided to have lunch up usagidaira terrace. Tasty katsu curry for lunch , which we then watched 100s of people line up for a photo with the icey pole cartoon character. Such a strange phenomenon. I looked at the area next to the alpen quad an thought it looked mi
  10. Very lucky. Not to take it off topic, have you ever been caught in a slide Mike?
  11. For the record, just in the 80's... Should have been wiser for my age...
  12. Some of the photos you take Mike are amazing! That last one of Ian looks like you are almost on top of him.
  13. Yeah there is a chance that the place i was staying at threw it out as i wasn't there at the time, but for some reason i doubt it as they were really good hosts. Review coming up soon.
  14. Did you try 902 in Echoland? Pretty sure last year they were stocking them. Cant remember the name of the shops i went into in Echoland, but didnt find any around. Instead spent my $$$ on some Bose QC3's, helped on the flight home, could actually hear the movies and sleep without distraction. 35,000 yen was good value (roughly $370AU) when they go for $450AU RRP back home.
  15. So I looked around Hakuba with no success. That's ok, had a blast all the same, some epic pow out there at the moment.
  16. Hi David, The ticket didn't show up at my accommodation, I got them to check a few times and no luck. That's ok as I am just stoked to be in the snow, will post a review when I get a chance as I went to the resort anyway.
  17. So jealous right now, I don't think words can describe what I'm feeling right now mike ;-)
  18. Hit up Happo for the first Japan day this year, was a delight to get the leg burn back. Blasted as much of the mountain as we could, actually think we hit every lift other than the ones in lower sakka. Had to finish up at 3:30, legs died... suggestions for tomorrow?
  19. might try hitting up one of the stores in ecoland in hakuba to see if they are catering for the international crowd... highly unlikely but worth a shot.
  20. Ps flights taking off in 5mins so might miss the response. Thanks again for any help.
  21. We are heading strait from the airport to hakuba... More concerned with if you can claim tax back....
