So I built my own powder board
Dunga replied to gozaimaas's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
The middle one looks a lot like a hovercraft. Nice work! -
Hakuba snow. Bottomless. Smelly.
Dunga replied to pie-eater's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Ah that smell of bottomless snow, (actually the Niseko smell to me is of sulfur hot springs.) -
Speech! Speech!

Toronto mayor admits to smoking crack
Dunga replied to Thundercat's topic in General off-topic discussions
Mayors don't really do much other than open buildings and festivals. I think it's being made into a bigger scandal than what it is. He isn't in control of hundreds of nuclear war heads. Re cocaine messing with Bush's head, who knows, for all we know he might have been doing cocaine in the "white house" (albeit very unlikely). -
Toronto mayor admits to smoking crack
Dunga replied to Thundercat's topic in General off-topic discussions
It's been floating around for a while now. He is a mayor. He did crack once. George W Bush was a president of the US. He did cocaine all through the 80's till he found jebus. I think it's all a bit of a laugh. -
App to track you skiing/boarding
Dunga replied to onehunga's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
If the resorts had their own apps it would be a heap better. You can turn off the roaming data and it will only use the GPS. That then plots all the data later on when you find some wifi. -
"Lag" = apple coding to annoy you enough to upgrade to android.

That's awesome! Mpora is awesome for free vids. -
Donna spam style meat is rubbish. That's why I prefer a souvlaki over a kebab.
-
My first kebab was outside a live band venue after seeing Tool when I was 16. It was simultaneously my first experience of the delightful kebab and hot chilli sauce. My taste buds and ring have never been the same again.

I've got a $30 (¥2600) rice cooker from Aldi that works well. But then again I'm no rice expert...

Top resort targets this season
Dunga replied to snowboard's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I want to hit up Moiwa to give it a try. You don't hear much about it compared to the big brothers. Also lookin to hit up Rusutsu. -
Did it have a film on the base when you got it? I had one turn sticky as well but I think that was due to the film on the base when I bought it. The film was a promo on the type of board and its specs. I generally only wax my boards at the start of the season, when we get into the spring melt and at the end of the season to stop the board from getting that white dried out look. Waxing at the end of the season also seems to help stop the edges from rusting. I haven't seen and increased benifit from waxing them more.

I'm hoping that the new iPad will have better stylus sensitivity so I can take notes, file them by project, and also be able to search for key words. One can only hope :-)

7 weeks in Niseko
Dunga replied to Slagfart's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Just for reference you will be doing 12 days of travelling between places? (11 resorts and 1 extra day to get back to somewhere.) -

E Jack is my preferred rider out of the two Jackson boys. I really liked the brothers on the run series. -
Which Ski Area?
Dunga replied to hellyer's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I spent a few weekends at Baker trying to ski (before I switched to a sideway stance) with work mates from Seattle whilst I was there for a qualifying program. Nice mountain, pity I couldn't ski well. I think they hold the world record for snowfall for one season, 28.96m. The average is 17.9m I'm sure mt grandview would smash this record if they ever bothered to keep records... -
Have you ever seen Amon Tobins show where the same concept is projected onto a large set of boxes, which in turn changes with the music? It's phenomenal.

Firstly, thats a sexy piece of equipment there. What's the base made out of? Do you put p-tex or something like that on the base? Or do you go with the wood base as well. -
