  1. Hokkaido Marathon in August then Tubby? I've been riding my bike a little more recently, and now the pavements are all free of snow I've started running occasionally.
  2. Pretty much a full white out at the top actually! It was total potluck which lines we took as we were blind until we hit the treeline!
  3. Video from Saturday up at Asahidake. An awesome day, despite the shocking visibility! Deep, light powder and very few people.
  4. We've had snow in Hokkaido today, at sea level. Feeling very chilly. Heading up to Asahidake tomorrow, will hopefully get some late season powder.
  5. Shhhhhh, the only ski jo in Hokkaido is Niseko! Glad you had a good one. Just wait till you're up there on a powder day next year. Look forward to riding with you! By the way, are you thinking of getting the K-Pass next winter?
  6. Yep, well played. It's Nakayama Touge in Hokkaido. Over to you....
  7. Cleared about 10cm off the car this morning. Pretty heavy and wet, but up in the hills it should be good. Heading to Tomamu this weekend (thanks again SnowJapan!). Will have one day there and the other at Sapporo Teine. Not sure which way round we'll do it yet. Hoping for some clear sunny skies as we're going for a park session at Tomamu.
  8. There mayyyy have been a few times when I took the odd tumble. Stangely none of them made this edit! I might be up at Teine Saturday, but its looking like Sunday is more likely. It's still open at weekends through April, so hopefully catch you up there sometime! Hope the move goes smoothly!
  9. Had a great morning up at Teine yesterday. Got some footage on the GoPro. The snow is still amazing, especially for late March!
  10. Hey man! Was good to run into you at Teine today! If you have time, cycling the Shimanamikaido between Onomichi, Hiroshima pref, Honshu and Imabari, Ehime pref, Shikoku is beautiful. It's about 80km, a series of bridges linking a load of islands which has a well marked cycle trail. The Iya valley in Shikoku (Kochi pref?) is beautiful and would have spots for cliff jumping.
  11. Looking at probably Teine and Rusutsu. Might even see a bit of sunshine.
  12. We'll have to have a snow 歓迎会 for you up at Teine one weekend in April before they close!
  13. Weather is looking a bit better in Hokkaido for the weekend. Earlier it was looking like rain and high winds, but it looks like we'll get snow now and more mellow winds. I'll be up at Teine at least one day, and probably Mt Racey or maybe Rusutsu for the other.
  14. In Hokkaido, it was very warm and looked like it might rain this morning. But the wind has shifted from the south. Now its coming from the west, and its just started snowing quite heavily.
  15. Really? Why is it closing? The land is owned by the army, and I guess they just don't make enough money to justify running the ski jo? The daypass + onsen + lunch ticket is dirt cheap, and they don't get many people visiting.
  16. Gonna be down in Niseko this weekend. Weather looks a bit sketchy though, high winds on Saturday (seems to be a common theme this winter!). Hoping to hit Chisenupuri before it closes for good at the end of this season.
  17. First of all, thanks very much to SnowJapan, and to Tomamu for the lift tickets. I have been meaning to head out that way for a couple of years, so winning the SJ Giveaway was the push I needed! We hit Tomamu on Saturday. There had been maybe 5cm overnight, but up on the hill the snow that had fallen midweek was still fresh and untouched. It was also alot lighter than the snow at Teine and other ski jo's closer to the sea. Looking up from the base. Looking up at the highest point once the sun came out Most of the decent powder stashes were accessed from a single
  18. Cracking day at Tomamu. Shredding pow this morning then hitting the park once the sun came out in the afternoon. Snowing now, and looking forward to Sahoro in the morning.
