  1. Jake burton has done more for Snowboarding and along the way got rich. Im happy he made his money and continues to do so. He does not set the prices in Japan the distrubtors do. The law of supply and demand basically allow Burton to be sold at a higher price here. Burton does a good thing and protects it's partners by not allowing people to undercut the market. We save so much in Japan on other things. Accom at the snow is cheap. Eatting out at night is healthier and cheaper than North America. Cars used ones are bought for almost nothing compared to back home. House prices are nothing so if I
  2. Im pretty sure it is first come first serve on that pass. You can go and buy it right at the info center of Happo.
  3. Snow down to 2000 meters in the alps. http://livecam.vill.hakuba.nagano.jp/livecam/image.php?U=2&ID=1317609000&T=5
  4. If you like touring in the spring from the lifts Hakuba Happone is pretty off the hook at that time. You will find it hard to find consitant powder conditions anywhere in Japan at that time but it can happen. The Rockies would have a better chance as would the higher sections of Whistler for powder.
  5. My first ski resort had a lift with 5 towers. Ive seen some nice terrain in Aus very unique for sure. It might not be a powder mecca but still I would go. The camping culture there in trailer parks just looks so cool to me. There are ways to reduce the cost and I would do more BC like Go Native to reduce the costs.
  6. i dont know it is a mount 6 pass i think. the classic resort pass or something like that. Happo has done a shiga plus happo pass since they started selling seasons passes about 7years ago I believe. I could be very wrong on when they started to sell seasons passes.
  7. update the websites are you lol. They wont do that for a bit. Call nozawa or happo they actually have good english speakers wroking in the offices on most days. The price is the same all season. I think the pass is a good buy for you for sure. The JTB pass comes out closer to winter it is 50000 yen though not 39000 yen. There were rumors last season that Tsugaike might be off the pass this season. That would lower the value of the pass to people living in Hakuba. Tsugaike offers a cheap pass early season for 30000yen.
  8. IMHO if you love snow sports you will still do it in Auz. The cost I think is the biggest draw back in Auz. Then againt the failure of J-resorts to properly price things isnt helping them either.
  9. If you are based in Hakuba/Shiga/Nozawa Onsen I dont think the pass is a very good buy. It is 80000yen and they are all quite a distance from each other. Here is the link to the pass application. If the link doesnt stick you can go through the snow japan resort section Nozawa onsen web page and find the form on their site. http://www.nozawaski.com/winter/lift_price/img/season_pass.pdf
  10. Ah hold on there hakuba kicked naganos butts the last time actually. Plus the slinger with the illegal action that wouldnt walk when stumped was pretty low.
  11. there is the nagano and hakuba cricket clubs. the gajin soccer team. A good core of people that head to aoikiko. Bill in myoko for guiding. The skate park in omachi is ok.
  12. well then good on Zao. I wouldve loved to have helped but 3 kids plus 2 jobs will hold you down.
  13. The multi pass is a rip off really. You can get much better deals on the day. The multi pass just give the tour operator something more to sell. You can pre buy cortina passed for 2600yen at alpen and that includes lunch onsen and ski. I think it has to be bought before october though. Using a multi pass for cortina is a big waste of 4500 yen. Everyone else is paying between 3400 to 3800 yen per day and that includes lunch and the onsen. I think it might be time to ask snow japan if we can link up some of the discount ticket sites for people as well. Goryu/47 do a 5 day weekday pass any
  14. Research Arnie a bit more and you will find major holes in his resume. I think he has been a math teacher since the early 90s.
  15. Just for the racist comments I would banish him not good for japan in general at this point in time.
