Great report and I agree with many of your points. The lift systems thing is the only real downer for me, though like you said when you know your way around the pain can be minimised! I would how they could improve it and if they have any plans in place..?

Love your photos ILoveZao. I went to Zao a few years back. It was in peak season and the juhyo were in good condition and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There's not many other resorts worth bothering about in that area though (it seems). But I could happily spend 4 days or so there. If only I had the time to!

I haven't been in Japan much this winter but it certainly seemed to have been very mild when I was there. My friends have been in Niseko though and seemed to have had a good season.

First one I went to was Gala Yuzawa. I just saw the adverts and it seemed so easy from Tokyo, and it sure was. ( and still is of course )

Nozawa is one of my favorite places. Love the whole thing with the onsen as well. Nice place to work!
