  1. Yep, just a personal experience.. but having to change schools every 2 years gave me a bit of perspective. mind you I have a few friends with a Dip.Ed or B.Ed but after doing some high school teaching, got fed up with it and went into adult education. Their exact quote " High school sucked, it still does" That might sum it up. These days I recommend kids to do some trade. You can always do year 11 and 12 later at TAFE or do a University bridging course. Get in as mature age student and skip the High School BS. Lot of hassle and competition for pretty basic stuff. +Disclaimer applies+
  2. I'm not talking about different shapes in white, wholemeal, wheatmeal. All similar texture. None of this toast sliced or sandwich sliced crap. Different combination in ingredients, and good black bread. There probably are hundred types of bread here. I'll go down to a bakery and least there's 20 different black breads, 20 different rolls, not including Italian bread.
  3. Macca's !! noooooo But seriously Rob. You take a risk eating Fugu (blowfish) ? Eating UK beef is like gambling with getting Mad cow disease, no? Tell me more about UK bread. When I am in Australia, you get rows and rows of white bread and multigrain and wholemeal but it's all similar stuff. You press it in your hands and it's like sponge!..
  4. YES to covered lifts. GN's mention of consolidation is a good idea. Fattwins' getting rid of some runs I can understand but not good for increasing the base population of the sport. These places can be a good starting point for kids and beginners. Keeps the other places less crowded. I recommend these places to convert to T- bars. The NZ club run gerende can be a good model for these places.
  5. Yeah,I have been lucky with teachers. One Brit fireman cum p.t. teacher who had no sense of fair play and a racist. I had one Japanese junior high teacher that had no place in teaching. Teachers earn respect. Not command! It's not the fockin army. He was one of these who puts people down in public. Australian High school teachers were disappointing. Japanese University professors are up themselves and they just want to sell the textbook they have written. Hard to approach. Australian TAFE teachers are not bad. At Uni, I had that problem you are talking about JA, but that wa

  7. Ok. I admit I am not being fair. But I had real oven baked beans in Kentucky USA and I felt cheated I've been eating beansmeans H. In Australia they have yummy fish'n chips and NZ is even better! Not that news paper wrapped stuff in UK. Aussie hamburgers with The whole lot (betroot ,eggs, bacon, pinapple) beats wimpy's and macca's anytime. I'm not insulting family cooking. My friend Mcdougal's wife is a British chef and I learnt a lot from her. I even had Welsh blood pudding for X'mas. Thought it was OK. But you got to admit food quality is not so good in the UK. I would't like to orde
  8. You mean the teacher in front disappears and tunnels in your head through your face? Rubbish... Only one teacher many students. Only a failure to the teacher, and student's willingness is a bonus.
  9. Never seen or heard anyone biting on spoons. Mn that is weird ... Some food are meant to be eaten with making noise. Soba noodles.
  10. Isn't that because you have it on "better battery life" setting? That happens with my Macbook, too, but when I put it on better performance it's back to normal. Maybe you battery is up...
  11. The global economic slowdown is probably good for global warming. Less energy output from nations like China. The workers can go back to farming. That's lucky. If you are a sarary man in Japan and your parents were too, there's nothing to go back to. I see it as a good thing when manufacturing goes down and food production goes up, but as long as it is kept organic and doesn't increase fertilizer production or large scale involving machines. We should all grow our own food. Go back to horses... Why support a financial system that doesn't work and rely on fossil fuel.
  12. I did a commerce degree, visual arts degree, and applied physics degree. What I learnt is that academics are not for me. At least Uni teachers are decent enough to treat you like a human being, not like high school and makes learning an inspiring process. When it comes to school of life, it's all about un-learning for me.
  13. Ahhh.. skin! We begged for that stuff ...
  14. Correct Rob. That's what they sometimes announce at platforms. Usually 15 min late due to JinShin-JiKo that's rather a quick clean up job I reckon.
  15. Went to preparatory school in Wimbledon. Rice pudding for desert At least it was better than the school lunch in Japan when I went back. Bowl of noodle soup, one bread roll and milk. I couldn't believe it. I asked what's for dessert. The Japanese kids all looked at me and I told them what it had been like for me and their jaws dropped. Ah, yeah, in japanese schools we sometimes had fried whale meat. Beef was expensive and that was a cheap source of protein then. Maybe that' s the reason Japanese can't give up on the taste of whale meat. I still have porrage for breakfast with sal
  16. Man I'd be running straight to the dunny if I eat chiko rolls. The only thing I consider eating out of UK is ox tongue and tail. Roast with spuds, parsnips, and pumpkin and Yorkshire Pud. Mashed potato. The rest is garbage. I can't believe I grew up on tinned baked beans and birds-eye fish fingers... yuk.
  17. How late is considered Late ? I was surprised that in Munich trains are often late by 15 min. Sometimes 40 min and that is not because of the snow. When trains are late I always suspect suicide. Sometimes one hear announcements in Tokyo suggesting that way.
  18. Rob, you have imagination ... yeah, we lose it a bit it's quite funny...
  19. Never had chilli in hot chocolate? It's French! you must have seen the movie "Chocola" Chocolate shop in Byron Bay NSW makes chilli and chocolates...
