Interesting thought, Ippy. It´s defo a taste thing imo. Once on this forum, as a beginner, I wanted to do freestyle and was doing a lot of switch. Someone said, It just takes too much time to master regular and switch both. At my stage, I can relate to that. An old surfboard shaper friend of mine used to tell me, ``Very few surfers can truly get the most out of the shape of the surfboard. ´´ I think the same goes with snowboards. I´d rather have two boards , One for deep pow and another for on/off piste. And I will choose the board spec that I know it will work for me. Rocker has no pla

I have never been able to do inverted jumps. Very cool loved watching the vid. -
I reckon this hybrid definition is really sketchy. I would not consider a camber board with a long nose to get float on pow, a hybrid. As a matter of fact, the 2007 Salomon Burner had exactly that. They called it LMC (long nose camber). The current Atomic Banger´s pop rocker is in essence very similar. Something about the woord `rocker´ gets peoples attention. It rocks.. blah . Hybrid rocker . sounds good, huh ? Wether you call it rocker or not, I definitely think the nose profile is important for powder. Having a rocker in tail - not. But this is all because I like freeriding and powde

Well, well ..the snow is finally here. Some places 3m dump (St.Anton) and many places in Austria have access problems. The rail at Innsbruck even stopped for a while, falling trees and power lines .. Road blocked by snow. The snow and the wind stopped a lot of things over the weekend. Wind is calmer but still snowing. Just need to wait a bit. Very high Avi risk. Hochfuegen and Zillertal closed. Some places operating with few lifts -
2011/12 Goggle Thread
Jynxx replied to panhead_pete's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Had my Alpina for 5 seasons. One the Lens change colour ... Starting to fog when I´m heated up. My wish is : Is there a goggle that you can see more when the day is foggy and snowing ? I know yellow is better but still it´s hard to see what´s ahead. Does anyone carry different lens or goggles for those days? -

It´s not as cold here in South Munich, Germany. I have so far only cleaned my driveway of snow once ! The snow melts quickly ... no accumilation @600m The amimals and some plants thinks its spring... The wild pigs are having a bonk, and some people are getting allergy from pollen Makes me tired from cold- warm changes. Hard to wake up... -

dyna, good choice of socks if you can get them Perhaps because you actually bought the right size first time around also you dont have any problems. Like I said, not as easy as it sounds. Some people choose half size too big, some choose too small ... -

dyna8800 ... I can understand where you are coming from but it doesn´t sound right A liner that initially packs out 1/2 or one size - definately something wrong ! If you know such models from your past boots, PLEASE LIST THEM here. Will help others a lot ... we won´t buy them We all wear our new boots when we buy them new, before taking them out - like wearing them every night watching telly, etc ... That´s called moulding your boot naturally .. Hair dryer (not too long !) before slipping it on helps. . -

Servos ! Bin thinking about youse .. Hoped at least you got into Zermatt before getting cut off. I bet you are having a blast ! Bit windy last weekend but finally we have snow. YEP. Avi risk is high. Hire an airbag if you can when going off-piste mate. Good to know that at least they did a bombing run... Equally, wind drift pow stash can slide... Not safe at the mo. Have heaps of fun and pics please (later!) -

I disagree on this one, too. I agree that some people doesn´t know what the correct fit is - strange as it sounds. But dialing the BOA doesn´t mean you actually `dial-in ´ ....you wish, but doesn´t happen You get compression spots where the wire is. Interesting point to add. Women´s foot geometry is different to men. - But so are everyone´s. My wife rides VANS. I got her a VANS (women´s) BOA but after a week, she found out it was half size too small. She didn´t like BOA compression either. She eventually found a VANS (men´s ) same as mine, laced, and loving it. -

Wearing thin socks is important. But NEVER WEAR HEAVY SOCKS when snowboarding, This idea comes from old skool ski boots 40 years ago You don´t want compression. (bad for circulation- cold feet) You were thin socks (but not too thin ! ) so it gives you a better fit. You do that to pick your boots and to board with them ... Lining pack out means your boots are dead. This is something most boarders dread. you want to wear in the boots. This doesn´t mean packing out the liner. Liner pack out gives sloppy/ loose fit and cold feet -
Very funny haha to hear the same lame jokes over and over haha Small minds come in bottomless configurations
