We'll have to hook up one morning Kokodoko! How long you in town for? A word of warning to those in Furano or on their way here - ski patrol were out in force today! I had my first run-in of the season with a particularly aggressive guy I had the misfortune to meet on the way into a tree run. When he threatened to take my season pass, international relations became somewhat strained! I was let off with a "next time" warning but not before he'd taken a note of my name. I than ran into a couple who'd had a similar experience with another guy, who said he'd already taken the passes of a -

Nice photos Kokodoko! The conditions were actually good today, well at least this morning when I went up. The groomed runs were firm but not at all icy & despite the lack of fresh snow, there's still some lovely soft pow about if you know where to look -
You're welcome - have a good trip

I did something similar the summer before last and stayed in both places! I stayed a couple of nights at "Backpackers Miyajima" which is a hostel right next to the ferry terminal (on the mainland side) AND also the tram line station to Hiroshima. Miyajima was a good place though one day there is probably enough. I then stayed a night at "J Hoppers" hostel in Hiroshima which is within walking distance of the A-Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park & Museum. Depends what you want to see more but I remember thinking I should have stayed 2 nights in Hiroshima and just the one in Miyajima. Hop

"Kafka on the Beach" by Haruki Murakami. As always, crazy imagination but a great read - [spoiler alert!] - I've just reached the gory bit with the killing of the cats and Johnnie Walker!!

That river always looks so bloody cold!! -
Hi guys! I'm thinking about staying for a couple of days at Tomamu but don't really want to stay at the Alpha Resort twin towers!! Has anyone stayed in Tomamu town itself or anywhere else nearby? I'll be car-less so will be relying on trains and buses! Cheers!

Kyoto - Where is good to stay?

Depends on your budget. I usually stay at Gojo Guesthouse which is reasonably priced hostel in an old, traditional-style wooden building not too far from Kiyomizu-dera, one of the famous temples. Gion is about a 10 minute walk away through some equally interesting back streets and the local station gives you easy access to Nara. The only downsides are that it's a bit far from the main station and it's cold in winter! Have a great trip in any event! -
What do you like about Japan. Tell me.

Same for baseball! Would've loved to have gone over to watch us stuff the Aussies whilst sinking a few!
