  1. I have a 3TB Airport Time Capsule at home that is connected to another 2TB hard drive. The Time Capsule is for backing up and the 2TB is used as another drive (and a backup that I infrequently update). The advantage of having it hooked up like this is the continual automatic backups and access to an external hard drive wirelessly. I also use dropbox for most of my work files and more and more I'm using iCloud, especially since you can access iCloud on a PC through their website. If my house were to burn down or wash away in a flood I'd lose a lot of not so important files which would be an
  2. I didn't look like anything had changed for weekdays. Still has the 00:00-04:00am 30% off and the 06:00-09:00 and 17:00-20:00 under 100km 50% off. I think only the weekend one is changing.
  3. According to the Nexco website 50% discounts are still on for the weekend. However, from July 1 the discount on the weekend goes down to 30% (from 50%)
  4. Not sure. We got the discounts two weeks ago driving from Shizuoka to Yokohama. 50% off.
  5. Actually it's because you live there.
  6. I would hate living in Yamanashi. Sounds like a real shithole. I'm at my three 'cool' showers a day mode. Morning, after work and just before bed. Humidity hasn't gone through the roof yet so don't mind the heat.
  7. Rooney seems to be one of the most sensitive players I've ever seen on the pitch. The second things aren't going his way he completely falls apart. As pies said, aside from the pass, he was shite. Felt bad for Baines this match. He kept having to face 2 v 1 situations. Definitely some positives to take away. With Costa Rica taking the first game its going to be must win from here on!
  8. This can be updated to 2010. So can anyone name the only unbeaten team at the 2010 World Cup? NZ! Aussies are making a match of it. Entertaining morning so far!
  9. Dutch putting bodies on the floor. Love the physical play!
  10. How about the fact that Neymar only got a yellow for a deliberate elbow? Then the handshake from Neymar to the ref as he went off? Pretty strange stuff...
  11. I'm definitely looking forward to the tournament. I don't have any emotion attachment to any team though since Canada are never ever going to be in the world cup (unless we host it). I'm just looking forward to great matches.
  12. Even when there are labels they are so often BS they are basically impossible to trust. Food safety is a joke in Japan and based on the honour system. Every single year, without fail, there is another scandal of mislabeled food. There aren't even penalties for this kind of fraud.
  13. The thing is, the argument is not in defence of the tradition of hunting whales, it's in defence of the tradition of eating whales. That's the culture that us foreigners don't seem to understand.
  14. Mine too. For obvious reasons my co-workers often come to ask me the best way to say something in English. Half the time I don't know anymore. When I go back to Canada my friends and family make fun of the way I speak now!
  15. I agree! Actually, gg, it was a 'I should have told you this before you got married' kind of message. A bit silly really!
  16. Lol. Yes! I woke up with half a dozen 'confession' type texts on my phone from one of my co-workers this morning. She's looking rather sheepish right now...
  17. Being hungover and getting to work on time is like a badge of honour around my office. I can't for the life of me understand why someone would want to do that. Literally everyone is looking like a bag of shit today (myself included x 2). We should all just go home.
  18. Dealing with some post-drinking action here today. Why oh why do my co-workers always want to go drinking mid-week. I'm getting too old for this nonsense!
  19. Almost none at all. The only part that gives off any real smell is when you are brewing on the stove. Even then it really only smells like baking bread, which is rather pleasant anyway.
  20. I don't do it in the summer because it's too hot. It's only really worth it if you are into I guess. I mean, considering the outlay you don't save that much money compared to buying it at the store. When I bought the equipment I had a few friends interested in brewing too so we split the price. Now that I've been doing it for a few years I've found sources to get cheaper grain and I actually grow my own hops in the garden which mean a pint costs me about 20-30¥ to make. I've gotten really good at making stouts, porters and IPAs which is pretty much what I would be buying from the shops an
  21. It is actually possible to make pretty good tasting happoshu if you are a home brewer. You only need to have 67% or less of the fermentable ingredients (sugars) in the beer to be malt. That means adding things like dextrose (which most beer makers add) and some other adjuncts like spices will give you a happoshu rather than an actual beer. I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the beers that Baird (and other 'micro' brewers) put out are actually classified as happoshu judging by the amount of non-malt ingedients they use. The reason that most happoshu tastes so filthy is that they have le
  22. My trick is to fight fire with fire. I spend a bunch of time outside at this time of year doing things that make me sweaty like exercise and garden work. Then when the real hot weather rolls around my body copes with it a lot better.
  23. Also, I would really prefer that none of the ladies I work with go bikini style. No thank you!
  24. I love it. All last week was sweltering and everyone was in full suit mode. June 1st rolls around and everyone is in short sleeves and no neckties. I went maverick this year and stopped wearing a tie a week or two again...
