The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . The clouds moved back in yesterday and started to bring us some more snow. Probably 5-10cm or so in places and it is snowing still this morning in Shiga Kogen. A moderate wind blowing snow about as well and a temperature of -10 degrees here in Maruike so it feels like a proper winter morning here. All resort areas seem to be open as normal though, but we can expect some exposed lifts to be running slower than usual. Tomorrow the forecast is for clear skies again and sun. Next exciting looking cold snap due by the end of the week, we'll keep an eye on that. In the meantime good conditions to enjoy. We probably clocked up another 10-15cm of snow yesterday, but the clouds have moved on by this morning and we are left with lots of blue sky above Shiga Kogen and the sun is out doing it's thing. Lovely morning. Keeping nice and cold as well at the moment with a cold -10C outside at the moment. Let's hope it keeps that way. Conditions really good for the weekend with the new snowfall we have had. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . More snow this morning. It's really coming down here in Maruike as I write this. Heavy snow, moderately strong winds and visibility very poor. What this means is that we have had a really good amount of fresh snow this week. It takes a lot for some of the resorts around Shiga Kogen to change their snow depth numbers, and so with some of the big increases recently you can really believe that they had a good new amount of snow. How much since yesterday? Difficult to put a number on it because the wind has been blowing around but at least 20cm perhaps much more in places and it doesn't look like it wants to hold off yet either. Taking a look outside now it's almost complete whiteout conditions. Looks like Shibutoge and Higashitateyama are closed due to the conditions ast the moment with a few more lifts no doubt on reduced speed operations. After this snow storm has passed, clear conditions are forecast for the weekend and into next week. Weekenders should be very happy with what they get to play in tomorrow. Visibility is ok out there generally, it's just one of those silver.grey days. Just a slight wind. Tomorrow the forecast is for very cold temps dipping down to perhaps as low as minus 20 on the mountain along with more snow and a good chance of strong winds as well. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . This morning seems to be the day when all the resorts suddenly decide to add a chunk of snow to their official snow depth numbers! Of course, a very decent snowfall helps and that is what has have had here. It is a colder morning and it is snowing. A lot. Very nice snowfall here. There's a wind as well that looks like it may affect operations in more exposed areas (Terakoya and Shibutoge looking the most at risk), but I think we'll all just be happy that we have a decent snowfall. Looks like it should ease off later today and might be sunny. Snow due back on Thursday! Should be great out there today. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Snow is coming down nicely now here in the Marike area. It started early on and we just had a dusting overnight but has since got colder and it's really falling from the skies nicely now. Hopefully we will get a decent build up of fresh snow on the slopes today and with temps due to drop this afternoon it should be good quality as well. Right now it's relavitvely 'mild' for Shiga Kogen, though still around -5C as of 11am. This snowfall is forecast to continue overnight and ease off tomorrow. Then more snow due later in the week. Poor visibility out there in all areas of Shiga Kogen this morning. Lots of snow please! Perhaps somewhat unexpected snow to report this morning, but I'm pleased about that. 10cm or so since yesterday I'd say and more higher up I would think. Light snow is still falling as we approach lunchtime here in Maruike, but in places around the resorts some blue skies have been appearing and the sun as well shining down. It looks and feels like it will clear up as the forecast told us to expect. Good chance of the sun out over the weekend, especially tomorrow. As you may well know it's a long weekend this weekend with Monday as a Japanese national holiday and so it should be lively out there. Certainly much more than weekendays like today, when the slopes are very quiet indeed. Hope you have a good weekend wherever you may be. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . It is good to see snow back with us today. A few cm overnight and a few cm more on cars parked around areas as I was driving around earlier on. Light snow is still falling here in Maruike, but it's not heavy snow by any means - more the kind that will just give us a thin dusting so no changes to those snow depths shown below. It looks like by tomorrow we might be back to clear and sunny skies over Shiga Kogen, with more of that on Saturday as well. In fact, aside from the chance of some sprinklings overnight, there doesn't seem to be much chance of snow in the coming week. Somewhat worrying for early-mid January. Cold front... this way please! From where I am writing in Maruike, there is a bit of sunlight peeking through the clouds every now and again. There is a lot of cloud around this morning though and in places light snow is falling. Only light though, nothing major at all. Clear and sunny conditions are very likely tomorrow and perhaps the day after. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . The sun has been shining down on us so far today, something of a contrast to yesterday and good timing for the weekend. A beautiful day. Not much else to say really! Cold start with temperatures down to -18C early on but warming up - slightly - with the sun. Hard packed snow covered roads that aren't melting away even this afternoon. A definte feel good day and not too busy out there actually. I had a few runs at Kumanoyu and the were lifts going up there with no people on them. Nice. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . According to my eyes, there has been at least 20-30cm of new snow fall since yesterday. Probably more on the mountain. Wind has been blowing it around the last day or so, and so varying and of course Shiga Kogen covers a large area.... The only snow depth number listed below - those being the official numbers that the resorts report of course - that has changed to reflect the new snowfall is the one for Terakoya. Well done Terakoya! It's somewhat frustrating that the resorts don't seem to want to keep those numbers up to date and celebrate the new snow. If I were a resort, I'd be shouting about it and dancing around. But, anyway, that's what I am here for - to tell you how much has actually fallen! Snow will likely ease later on and tomorrow is due to be a fine and sunny day according to the forecasts.
