The ski area reports 3-5cm across the mountain and we might get a bit more today. (Next Monday is looking good for some new cm too... the forecast for the coming week is looking much nicer than this time last week, that's for sure. Fingers crossed.) The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . We have some light snow falling this morning, with a kind of light snow/dusting situation going on (on and off) since the report yesterday, so it hasn't really amounted to much in terms of cm. Perhaps we might get a few today. Beyond today, Monday is showing some potential for fresh snow. Happy to report that Skyline (and runs off it) are back open this morning, yey! Night skiing was planned for today and tomorrow but that has been cancelled (due to snow conditions). Today is a national holiday and the ski area is extending ski lift operations by 30 minutes both tomorrow and Sunday. Note: I missed the update during the day yesterday, sorry, but I think the ski area reported a few extra cm during the day. The new snowfall numbers reported below are 'since yesterday afternoon'. Not enough for a refresh/reset of course but it is still looking like we might get some of that Monday night into Tuesday. Will the forecasts be right this time? The lower part of Skyline is closed but the upper part is still available; come down via Kamoshika or Tanuki or Grand Prix. Today is the middle day of the long weekend so it will once again be very busy out there! We might get some sun later in the day. Lifts open 30 minutes longer than usual today and tomorrow. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Greetings from a snowy Nozawa... as it should be! By 3pm yesterday the ski area was reporting 7-9cm of fresh snow on the upper areas (though that included a few from earlier in the day) and this morning they are reporting 20cm-35cm of fresh snow across the mountain. That sounds like Nozawa, doesn't it? It is a bit windy this morning but the ski area is open as planned, so you can get up top to enjoy those newly deep and fluffy conditions. I'm guessing it'll be cold up there, but it'll be worth it. :) More snow due through today (just light at the moment), and then the chance of some sun before more snow coming in on Friday into Saturday. That all sounds good to me, especially if it remains cold. Yokoteyama has delayed opening until 22nd November. They originally wanted to open on 8th November and initially delayed to 15th November. That is now not possible. 22nd is the new target. Kumanoyu has delayed opening, with no specific new target. Basically they will open as soon as possible. It does look like we should be getting a cold front and snow early next week. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 0cm Posted on Wednesday 8th November 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Greetings Nozawa-loving friends. It's really good to be back. Since we last talked, we have endured a hot and sticky summer and an unseasonably warm autumn too. That seems to have been the theme of the year, and it's not one that I am keen on! So, the 2023 green season is now officially over at the resort, and everyone is busy preparing for winter. Everyone has different things to do, from roping up trees to checking ski lifts and other equipment. During a cold snap in late October, we received some snow on the upper areas of the mountain, but that has gone now with warmer temperatures since then. This morning at 9am it is just over 10C in the village. By the end of the coming weekend, it should be getting colder again, and there should be some more snowy sprinkles on the mountain. Nozawa Onsen plans to open on Saturday, 25th November 2023, which is now less than three weeks away. Obviously, we'll need snow before then to do that. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 829cm Posted on Sunday 7th May 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Today (Sunday 7th May) is the last day of the 2022-2023 ski season in Nozawa. The ski area has done really well to remain open until now, with the Yamabiko D (1250m) and Uenotaira (2,000m) runs scheduled to be open today. It's not great weather for the last day. Basically wet with limited visibility on the mountain. With spring season feeling so long this year, it has been fun to look back on the peak season. I have lots of fine memories and I'm sure many others do too. It was not a classic in terms of amounts of snowfall, but not every season has to be - or can be, right? It was great to see lots of familiar faces for the first time in a few years too. I don't know what the visitor numbers are for the season, but there were clearly quite a lot more people around this season. All covid-related entry restrictions have now been dropped and I am guessing 23-24 will be a cracker, certainly in terms of Nozawa popularity. And hopefully in terms of snowfall, of course. Anyway, these are my last words of the season. I hope you enjoyed Nozawa if you were able to visit, or just enjoyed following the season through these reports if you were looking on from afar. I will be back in November. Our daily reports are not posted on behalf of ski areas or any other business or organisation. Since first going online in 1999, the integrity of this website has always been our top priority, and it is something we are not prepared to compromise. All content is carefully created and written by humans who share a passion for the subject and what SnowJapan stands for. About SnowJapan.com About the daily reporting on SnowJapan.com
