Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 526cm

Posted on Thursday 7th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Since yesterday the ski area has reported up to 15cm of new snowfall on the upper areas of the mountain, with 5cm of that since mid-afternoon.

We start today with some light snow falling and much of the mountain covered in cloud/fog. Some forecasts say that there might be some clearer weather in the middle of today, so it might clear up. And maybe a bit of sun tomorrow too.

And then... snow on Saturday. (Wouldn't it be great if we got a Nozawa-like 30+cm? I'll try not to expect too much and hope to be pleasantly surprised).

Kind of feels a bit like mid-winter, ne?
