  • Hakuba Now: Monday 4th December 2023

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 6cm Snowfall at base this season 40cm Posted on Monday 4th December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. And what a beautiful morning it is! Yesterday it was snowing lightly but it took until later in the day for it to start coming down at a higher rate and start sticking. The result of that snowfall is 6cm to add to my report this morning. (I thought there might have been more reported by the ski areas, but not so). Anyway, we have blue skies and sun this morning and as I said, it is a beauty. There's some low cloud around early morning, but clear blue skies behind the mountain backdrop. What a wonderful morning to enjoy the mountains. We can probably expect extended periods of sun or cloud for a good part of this coming week. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Part open Lifts: Telecabin gondola Alps Number 1 pair Alps Number 3 pair Courses: Panorama Grand Prix Technical Super Official snow depth: Upper: 85cm Toomi: 3cm (not being updated?) Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this season 34cm Posted on Sunday 3rd December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It is snowing lightly at the moment. A thin layer has accumulated on the top of my car and around my house, though none is sticking on the road outside my place just yet. I wouldn't expect much today (in terms of cm) even though it might continue snowing lightly. Maybe a nice layer to play on at higher elevations. (Happo-one is reporting 6-8cm of snowfall). The only change to ski area operations I can find this morning is the Tsuga Number 2 pair lift starting up at Tsugaike. • Hakuba Now: Saturday 2nd December 2023

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 3cm Snowfall at base this season 33cm Posted on Saturday 2nd December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. I had such a blast with my first turns of the season yesterday. I decided not to take out my new gear, but it wouldn't have been a problem. Very nice. This morning a larger area of Hakuba Goryu is open (4 runs now) and another lift at Happo-one is operating. There is a little snow to report with varying amounts around base areas (up to a few cm) and ski areas are generally reporting up to 10cm in upper areas. After the clearer skies of yesterday this morning visibility is more limited with light snow falling at the moment. We might get some more but we shouldn't expect much, with fine weather due in the first part of the coming week and somewhat milder temps. So we will need to play with what we got for the moment as we wait for more snow. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Part open Lifts: Telecabin gondola Alps Number 1 pair Alps Number 3 pair Courses: Panorama Grand Prix Technical Super Official snow depth: Upper: 85cm Toomi: 3cm Notes: Take the gondola up to (and down from) the Panorama ski run that is open ------------ Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park Large part open Ski lifts: All lifts (* Line D usually only opens when the Gondola is not operating) Courses: Most main courses except mid to lower R-1 and R-7 Tree Riding Zones will open at a later date New snowfall (reported by ski area): Top: 10cm Base: 0cm Official snow depth: Upper: 85cm Base: 25cm Notes: A large part of Hakuba 47 is open, but runs down to base are not open yet (so you need to take the gondola down) ------------ Hakuba Happo-one Part open Ski lifts: Adam Gondola Panorama pair Kokusai Number 3 pair Courses: Panorama New snowfall (reported by ski area): Usagidaira (1400m): 6cm Official snow depth: Kurobushi (1680m): -cm Usagidaira (1400m): 106cm Nakiyama (800m): -cm Notes: Take the gondola up to (and down from) the Panorama ski run that is open ------------ Tsugaike Mountain Resort Part open Ski lifts: Eve Gondola Han-no-ki pair lift Courses: Han-no-ki New snowfall (reported by ski area): 10cm Official snow depth: Upper: 105cm Base: 10cm Notes: Take the gondola up to (and down from) the ski run that is open Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Saturday 2nd December 2023 Total snowfall at base so far 33cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 6 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 15cm (19th November) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days December 2023 snowfall 5cm reported on 2 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. • Hakuba Now: Friday 1st December 2023

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 2cm Snowfall at base this season 30cm Posted on Friday 1st December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It really is great to be able to report that as of this morning four ski areas are now open. Three are limiting openings to just one official run, but Hakuba 47 is impressing with quite a large section open from day 1. And after the wind of yesterday, today should get underway without disruption and, honestly*, the webcam images look amazing. :) Hakuba 47 is reporting an additional 5cm of snow overnight. Happo-one is reporting 6cm of new snowfall at the top of the gondola. This morning we have a mix of cloud, blue sky and sunshine early on. We may receive some light snow later on in the day, and generally cloudy skies with a chance of light snow in the mountains is forecast over the weekend. Nothing major is expected. Early in the coming week it might get slightly milder but hopefully the snow we have will hold up. It sounds like there has been a fair amount of snowfall at higher elevations so we should be fine. I'm so excited about this season and can't wait to get out there myself... and telling you about it. It feels like a really promising start. • Hakuba Now: Thursday 30th November 2023

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 10cm Snowfall at base this season 28cm Posted on Thursday 30th November 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . 9am update: Happo-one is also open Good morning from Hakuba. And a good morning it is! Official information is still quite patchy early this morning, but two ski areas are officially opening this morning: Goryu and Tsugaike. Goryu has the gondola and top Alps Number 1 pair moving (with the Panorama course open), and Tsugaike has the gondola and top pair lift operating. Tsugaike seem to be reporting an impressive 103cm of snow depth at higher elevations. That sounds great! It's probably a good guess to predict that Hakuba 47 and Happo-one are busy preparing to open too sometime very soon. Things may change quickly. (I will try to update this report during the day if there is any major news). There's snow on the ground in the village too this morning. Exciting times. And I know it's just a date, but it's great to see some ski lifts moving before we reach December! Added: Happo-one is also opening this morning. They are reporting 50cm of snowfall at 1400m with a 103cm snow depth. Nice. Added (6:30pm): Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park will be opening from tomorrow, Friday 1st December. There is going to be a lot of information to check and prepare tomorrow morning, so the report might take a bit of time to put together and publish. Gambarimasu! If the weather behaves, the four ski areas (Goryu, 47, Happo-one and Tsugaike) will all be part open. --------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Lifts operating: - Gondola - Alps Number 1 pair Courses open: - Panorama Official snow depth: - Upper: ?cm - Toomi: ?cm Reported snowfall (as per official site): - ?cm -------------------------------- Hakuba Happo-one Lifts operating: - Gondola - Panorama Courses open: - Panorama Official snow depth: - Kurobushi (1680m): ?cm - Usagidaira (1400m): 103cm - Nakiyama (800m): ?cm Reported snowfall (as per official site): - Kurobushi (1680m): ?cm - Usagidaira (1400m): 50cm (sugoi!) - Nakiyama (800m): ?cm -------------------------------- Tsugaike Mountain Resort Lifts operating: - Gondola - Han-no-ki high speed pair Official snow depth: - Upper: 103cm - Base: 13cm Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Thursday 30th November 2023 Total snowfall at base so far 28cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 4 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 15cm (19th November) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. Snow showing in this report is from yesterday morning since the report was posted. It was coming down nicely for a while there, even at base. (And, just to be clear, that's not showing up in any of the reported numbers from the ski areas this morning, even though many snow depth numbers have increased since yesterday). (Sigh mumble grumble.) Anyway! I wonder if that will be the last decent delivery of snow this season? Maybe not, with something possible around Tuesday. The general trend, though, seems to be rising temps across the next week and beyond. And that is not unreasonable considering the date! Forecasts for today are generally cloud with some sun and that's what we have just now. Today is the last day of the season for the Hakuba Iwatake and Kashimayari ski areas. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . I'm enjoying having to keep on increasing those snow depth numbers in the list below. Yes, more snow to report this morning - up to 20cm on upper sections of ski areas. It feels like a relatively mild morning but it shouldn't change (ie get warmer) much during the day. Right now it is snowing lightly and just over 0C. Great to see some potentially heavy snow due Friday and Saturday too. Weird season! (Although, I suppose they all are in their own way...) It seems like there is some kind of electric power cut in places this morning. Looks like it is around the Happo area. Unclear to me right now how that might affect ski area, but some lifts seem at least delayed at the start of the day. --------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu Reported snowfall: Upper: 20cm Official snow depth: Upper: 265cm Toomi: 145cm Hakuba 47 Reported snowfall (overnight): Upper: 15cm Base: 10cm Official snow depth: Top: 265cm Base: 115cm Hakuba Cortina Reported snowfall: Upper: about 20cm Official snow depth: Top: 250cm Base: 165cm Hakuba Happo-one Reported snowfall: Kurobishi: 15cm Usagidaira: 17cm Top of Riesen quad: ?cm (social media) Nakiyama: 10cm Official snow depth: Kurobishi: 275cm Usagidaira: 210cm Nakiyama: 90cm Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field Reported snowfall: Mountain Side: 5cm Village Side: 5cm Official snow depth: Mountain Side: 175cm Village Side: 100cm Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth: 245cm Jigatake Reported snowfall: 10cm Official snow depth: 90cm Kashimayari Official snow depth: 110cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort Reported snowfall: about 20cm Official snow depth: Upper: 259cm Lower: 69cm White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth: 105cm --------------- Total snowfall accumulation this season so far (in upper areas) [The information below originates from the ski areas themselves, it is being checked and updated manually every report from public Hakuba Valley sources] ABLE Hakuba Goryu: 909cm Hakuba 47: 635cm Hakuba Happo-one: 745cm Hakuba Cortina: 724cm Tsugaike Mountain Resort: 737cm Note: There is usually a one day delay in numbers being updated Hakuba Now 2023-2024 season Data as Wednesday 6th March 2024 Total snowfall at base so far 443cm Number of days snowfall observed at base4 51 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 35cm (8th January) November 2023 snowfall 28cm reported on 4 days December 2023 snowfall 93cm reported on 13 days January 2024 snowfall 187cm reported on 16 days February 2024 snowfall 72cm reported on 13 days March 2024 snowfall 63cm reported on 5 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. • Hakuba Now: Thursday 9th November 2023

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 0cm Posted on Thursday 9th November 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Hello hello hello! It's a beautiful morning here in Hakuba, and the mountains look amazing. Nothing unusual there, of course, but it's always worth remembering the good things. After the long and hot summer, it is great that winter is just a few weeks away. I'm going to stubbornly try and ignore all the talk of 'unseasonably warm' conditions (as much as I can) and hope that all turns out well for the winter. As I write this, it is about 7C here in the village and will probably be around 19C at the warmest point of the day. Temperatures will be dropping over the weekend and into early next week. We might even get some snow down to (or close to) village level around Monday. I'll let you know, of course. And I'll talk about a few bits of Hakuba-related news next week. I've splashed out on new skis, boots, snowboard, and gloves for this season. I'm ready and excited about the upcoming season. Snow please! -------------------------------- Here are the planned opening dates for ski areas around Hakuba. All are of course subject to change and depend on snowfall.
