Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 45cm

Posted on Monday 18th December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

It's a cold morning in Hakuba. There's lots of cloud, some light snow falling, but some blue sky in places too.

Ski areas around the valley are reporting around up to 10cm of fresh snow in upper areas overnight after snowfall during the day yesterday. There should be some good fun to have up there this morning, if not a little windy.

There's just a little new snow down by base areas since yesterday, a few cm or so.

Other ski areas are still waiting to open, more snow is required. The next potentially big snow is forecast for around Friday.

As I am about to post this, Happo-one is on standby due to windy conditions. The other ski areas that plan to be open have done so.
