Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 43cm

Posted on Sunday 17th December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

OK, the snow has started! Just a few cm or so around base areas and a bit more already at higher elevations.

Hakuba Happo-one is reporting 15cm of snowfall at Kurobishi (1680m) and 10cm at the top of the Alpen quad lift. What exactly is open at Happo-one is a bit unclear as I write this.

Hakuba 47 are reporting 10cm of snow on upper areas, but only the upper area of R-8 is open. The gondola at 47 is not open, so you need to get there via the gondola at Hakuba Goryu.

Please note that what is open might differ from the listings below as ski areas make early morning decisions (and perhaps change their minds too).

Some days the situation can be complicated (and difficult to confirm), but I'm going to try my best to bring you as much info as possible each morning. That might mean they might be posted a bit later than usual over the coming week or so.
