Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 14cm
Snowfall at base this season 59cm

Posted on Thursday 21st December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Hakuba.

Good news too!

There's a nice layer of fresh snow on the ground and it is snowing. I got 13cm on top of my car (and counting). If forecasts are right, there should be quite a lot more coming over the next few days.

Here is what ski areas are reporting (all of these numbers are in the below list of course):

Happo-one: 30-50cm (various places on mountain)

Hakuba 47: 25cm top, 20cm base

Excellent.

I can't see any changes in ski area operations at the start of the day but I would expect more to open up. If not during today, from tomorrow.
