Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 15cm
Snowfall at base this season 74cm

Posted on Friday 22nd December 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Good morning to you from Hakuba.

We have had more snow. :)

Ski areas are reporting 10-20cm (and more) on the mountain and I have another 15cm or so to add since my last report.

It is still snowing and visibility is suitably limited. Doesn't seem too windy, but it feels cold.

The Hakuba Cortina and Hakuba Norikura ski areas are both part open this morning and have been added to the (daily updated) list below.

Snowfall is forecast for the day and tonight, so hopefully we'll get some more good numbers by tomorrow. That will surely help more lifts and terrain to open.

(By the way, I do intend to start reporting the "accumulative snowfall" data for ski areas this season, using official info from Hakuba Valley. The data seems somewhat patchy so far, so I am keeping an eye on it before adding it to my reports).
