It's a cold Monday morning here in Shiga Kogen and we seem to be past the peak of this particular winter storm.

Heavy snow this morning to report with a very nice cold new layer of fluffy dry snow on the ground and across the mountains.

Light snow has been falling this morning but heavier snow is forecast for later in the day today along with potentially strong northerly winds.

A fine day yesterday with the sun out shining and lovely blue skies above, but temperatures remaining down there good and cold.

After the warmer climes of yesterday - when we avoided the rain that lots of areas got, it was snowing here in Kumanoyu where I was for the day.

Up to 10cm of wet snowfall in some areas of Shiga Kogen overnight (Kumanoyu report 10cm), but it's a warm morning.

Early morning clouds quickly clearing now and we have lots of blue sky above the region.
