Yesterday all that new snowfall allowed the ski area to open up more, including runs that connected the top area with base.

Good morning from Nozawa, and I have some very good news this morning.

This morning the ski area is reporting 7cm and 18cm of fresh snow from upper areas (sounds a lot); none from down below early on but there is a bit.

Good morning and happy new year from Nozawa.

It is cloudy, there is some light rain across the region and it is just under 2C at 8am.

After a very fine day yesterday, the ski area is reporting 9-10cm of fresh snow on upper areas overnight.

Early morning cloud, particularly a bunch of low clouds hovering across the valley, but that should clear fairly quickly and it should be another fine day with sunshine expected.

The snow eased off yesterday morning and we even got some clearer weather at moment. I think most people were concentrating on enjoying the fresh snow.

Excellent news to report this morning. Very large amount of new snowfall. It might have taken time to get going, but overnight we got... a lot!

We were all excited about the prospect of heavy snow. We do have snow, though perhaps not as much as we thought we might, certainly now down at base anyway.

The snow has started. There is a few cm on the ground and we are very much hoping that the next few days will bring some Nozawa-like numbers.

Yesterday was a curious one. As noted yesterday morning, the snow clouds that were hoping for mostly missed us, but it was snowing a bit later in the day giving us several cm down at base.

We have some fresh snow. It's a modest amount, for sure, with the ski area only reporting 3cm on upper areas.

The sun is out. There are quite a few people around. I wouldn't be surprised to see our favourite bright green skiing vegetable Naski out and about today!
