Today (Sunday 7th May) is the last day of the 2022-2023 ski season in Nozawa.

It is fine and sunny this morning and feeling warmer after a bit of a colder morning yesterday. As of 10am it is about 14C in the village.

Yesterday was... very warm!

We have had a cloudy morning and the clouds threaten us with some rain, but it isn't raining yet.

It's quite cloudy early on this morning, but also bright and perhaps it will be sunny during the day too. That's what forecasts say, with clear skies from the start tomorrow and Sunday.

Limited visibility out there on the mountain this morning.

A nice surprise this morning, with over 10cm of fresh snow on the ground, and the ski area is reporting 20cm on upper areas (in addition to the 3cm reported yesterday afternoon).

Well, we got another 20+cm of snow since yesterday on the mountain, according to the ski area, and around 10-15cm around base areas.

We did get some snow yesterday, but it didn't amount to that much in terms of cm (3-5cm reported by the ski area yesterday afternoon).

Light snow is falling this morning, with snow due over this weekend. At the moment it's not the kind that will bring big (cm) numbers.

Yesterday afternoon the ski area was reporting 50cm of snowfall during the day on the top Yamabiko area.

Woohoo! Some big snow numbers this morning. By 3pm yesterday, the ski area was reporting 3-15cm of new snowfall across the mountain.

The snow is back. Not a huge amount yet, but snow is due today and tomorrow so fingers crossed we are in for a good reset.

There is still some light snow falling still, but it is due to ease off today with the chance of some sun later.
