It is fine and sunny this morning and feeling warmer after a bit of a colder morning yesterday. As of 10am it is about 14C in the village.
With the information available as of this morning, Uenotaira is scheduled to open for the weekend. (I'll check that info again tonight, and if that changes I will post an update).
Tomorrow should be ok weather wise though there looks to be a good chance of rain on Sunday.
Tomorrow is also officially the start of the 'Golden Week' holiday period in Japan, and of course the last week of 2022-2023 season operations for Nozawa Onsen ski area.
The following courses are available today:
Lift schedule for last part of season:
- Nagasaka Gondola
- Yamabiko Four (quad)
- Yamabiko Number 2 Four (quad)
- Uenotaira Four (quad) [* Golden Week holidays]
- Skyline connecting pair [* Golden Week holidays]
Open areas:
- Yamabiko
- Uenotaira and Kokenashi are scheduled to open over Golden Week
- All other areas are now closed
Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):
- Yamabiko: 80cm
- Uenotaira: 30cm
- Lower areas: finished reporting
Planned closing date:
- Nozawa Onsen plans to be open until Sunday 7th May 2023
UPDATE
According to an announcement by the ski area this afternoon, here are the ski lifts and runs that they plan to open during Golden Week, from tomorrow (Saturday 29th April) until Sunday 7th May:
- Nagasaka Gondola (8:10am-3:00pm, last one down at 3:40pm)
- Yamabiko Four quad (8:25am-3:10pm)
- Yamabiko Number 2 Four quad (8:20am-3:20pm)
- Skyline connecting pair (8:20am-3:30pm)
- Uenotaira Four quad (8:25am-3:20pm)
- Yamabiko A/B/C/D/E
- Kokenashi A/B
- Uenotaira
