Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 21cm
Snowfall at base this season 766cm
Posted on Wednesday 22nd February 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
Yesterday afternoon the ski area was reporting 50cm of snowfall during the day on the top Yamabiko area. Another 23cm this morning, so there has been another impressive amount of fresh snow delivered. Smaller numbers lower down the mountain, but we still got another 20+cm around base areas.
There's a lot of cloud around at the start of the day but some breaks in it too with bits of blue sky and the sun visible at times. If forecasts are right, we will probably see more of that as the day goes on. Fine weather due tomorrow too, and it is a national holiday.
So lots of fresh snow and some bright weather is due. Sounds good! Lots of people lined up for the gondola this morning, and who can blame them!
