Another great day of snow gets us back in that Myoko mood. I can't tell you how liberating it is to get the snowthrowing machines going.

Snow! It started wet, and it's pretty wet and cohesive now, but getting better and even picking up a bit. Dare I say it, it's Myoko-style out there.

Another nice filling of snow through the day yesterday, so that we got a total (with settling) of 45cm.

Finally: a real Myoko snow day.

This morning is a day to look at your sleeve if the snow continues to gently float down. We had perfect flakes - hexagonal, sparkly, perfectly formed.

When I heard the plows going by at about 4:30 this morning, I got excited; they usually don't run up the long run to Akakura Kanko unless 30cm or so falls.

Well, our prayers at the local festival helped a bit, about nine centimeters' worth.

Snow did fall yesterday, but it really didn't amount to anything, well, what we really need.

In the multi-course banquet that is the ski season, I hope that we can look at today as an appetizer before the main course (and the fitful snow conditions up today was just the table getting set).

A good night of snow, as we exactly matched the Niigata prefecture forecast of 40cm.

Alright, this is more like what we expect. Just under 30cm of fresh on the ground; pretty heavy, soft hail crystals earlier, but looking a little lighter and ski-friendly in the past two hours.
