Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 29cm
Snowfall at base this season 318cm

Posted on Friday 31st January 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Snow! It started wet, and it's pretty wet and cohesive now, but getting better and even picking up a bit. Dare I say it, it's Myoko-style out there.

Not the heaviest, but a nice change from the recent trends. And really needed; Kurohime is running again (even though they're only reporting 10cm, which I think is less than is actually out there. But thanks for not over-reporting!).

Niigata's official report has...OK, I won't jinx it, but over 30cm. So things are definitely going in the right direction. And if we look at the forecast, there is good reason for qualified optimism.
