New snowfall at base 15cm
Snowfall at base this season 228cm
Posted on Thursday 16th January 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
When I heard the plows going by at about 4:30 this morning, I got excited; they usually don't run up the long run to Akakura Kanko unless 30cm or so falls. Time to get ready for my own snow clearing activities, I thought. But not really.
A not terrible snowfall overnight, but only about 15cm (the plow people probably really need the work, too!).
Kind of creamy snow; not light powder, exactly, but good solid snow.
We could always use more, and once again snow is being followed by a sunny day, which is really not what we want. Days of unending, pounding snow (I know, this is getting repetitive in these reports).
There is still much hope, and lots of season ahead of us. But it was colder overnight, the freezing level isn't going way up the hill, and there is the chance of more snow showers today and over the coming days.
