Some nice light snow overnight. Once again, not a huge, Myoko-typical dump, but still a welcome addition to a slowly but steadily increasing snowpack.

We may not have typical, massive snow in Myoko this year, but I think we're ahead of the pack: the parking lot at Akakura Kanko Ski Area was completely full by 9:30 yesterday, with lots of out-of-town license plates on the cars.

That most welcome, wonderful, beautiful snow tapered off yesterday, but then started up again during the night.

Nice snowfall through the day yesterday, all the way down to the ocean.

Finally: a Myoko-style snowfall, with reduced visibility, and covered-up car windows.

It's an early morning today, so the report goes out with only two resorts having submitted their info for the day (thank you, Ikenotaira and Akakura Onsen!).

Snow is falling very lightly now on a mild day in Myoko.

After the stars came out last night things really turned around, and we have at least 30cm of fresh at the base of Akakan!

It's a beautiful day in Myoko today (although, of course, we'd rather see more pounding snow!). Looks like more snow after this bluebird morning.

I was kind of bummed last night when we were getting precipitation, but not of the white kind. The good news came later when we started to hear thunder—always a good sign up here that things may head to snow.

I'm sitting here waiting for the official report to come in (which since you're reading this, have in fact arrived).

I wasn't going to send out a report today, once I woke up and saw perfect blue skies, felt that warm sun on my face, and noticed that there was no additional snow on top of the 20cm or so out there.

The snow is falling today; looking a lot better, although the total on the ground is still only about 20cm (which is also the official word from Akakura Kanko).
