We have a beautiful and atmospheric look going on this morning with a mix of cloud, some blue sky and the sun shining through in places.

Hello from Hakuba where we have a fairly modest layer of fresh snow on the ground around base.

While the four ski areas are open, which is good, we're kind of in that early season 'waiting for snow' holding mode at the moment.

What a stunning morning it is. Beautiful.

Snow is coming down nicely now and we should have it for the day. Sun is forecast over the weekend. Should be fun!

I am happy to report that we have fresh snow on the ground this cold morning. Decent amount of it too.

It is officially the first day of the ski season. Hurray!

Tsugaike Mountain Resort is going to open from tomorrow, Monday 1st December.

Tsugaike and Happo-one have announced delays but there are no announcements coming from 47/Goryu at the moment.

The sun is out now but overnight we got a blast of winter conditions, and a layer of snow.

The 2025-2026 snow season is (hopefully) just less than a month away, with the big ski areas hoping to open at the end of November.
