Overnight Furano received 12 cm of new snow in the village which is most welcome.

Magical! That is the word that comes to mind as I look up and see a bluebird morning with the sky looking absolutely perfect and the sun out in full force.

It is a nice morning looking up towards the mountain. The sky is clear and blue, with a patches of cloud spread around.

There has been a dusting of snow overnight and on the slopes this fresh layer is sitting on top of the grooming.

It was a warm day yesterday with a good amount of snow falling.

It is another cold start to the day, much like yesterday.

Yesterday was warm, as was forecast, with the temperatures causing severe melt around town and causing monstrous puddles on the roads and plenty of slush on footpaths and carparks.

There has been no new snow overnight and today, stepping outside feels very mild.

It is a nice calm morning and overnight there has been some snow which I have measured to be 5cm.

The crowds seem to be building up in the resort with a decent wait necessary to get onto the Kitanomine lifts this morning.

Yesterday was a very good day, with the gondola getting back in operation and a good dump of 12cm of new snow.

Happy New Year 2018, which was welcomed in by a fireworks display last night at the base of the Furano Zone.

Looking at the trees it seems that the winds have passed us. There is a high cloud ceiling and it has started to snow lightly and will likely do that through the day.

There is light wind blowing around in the village which is still moving the trees a fair bit, but the most intense part of the front has passed.
