Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 347cm

Posted on Thursday 4th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.

Yesterday was a very good day, with the gondola getting back in operation and a good dump of 12cm of new snow. Suddenly there seem to be more people on the Kitanomine Zone with overseas guests seeming to out number the locals for the first time this season.

Today looks like a good one in terms of weather. The high broken cloud is letting through plenty of sun and just a little wind here at base. The wind will be a bit stronger up on the mountain but certainly not gusty. While there is no new snow to report there is still plenty of fun to be had in the 12cm from yesterday.

Kitanomine Zone open.
