Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido
New snowfall at base 16cm
Snowfall at base this season 372cm
Posted on Monday 8th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here.
There has been no new snow overnight and today, stepping outside feels very mild. Checking the temperature I got -4c and later in the day this is expected to rise to +1c. So expect the snow to get heavy as the temperature increases. The cloud is quite high and still affords views across Furano town. The rain that was expected today looks like it will arrive tomorrow and the winds are forecast to get stronger tomorrow.
Unfortunately I was unable to post a report yesterday but there was an impressive dump of 16cm of snow, meaning yesterday was a fantastic powder day. So don't get confused, the "new snow" figure of 16cm happened yesterday not today!
