grungy-gonads 54 Posted March 19, 2003 Share Posted March 19, 2003 When I first came to Japan I remember seeing some kind of simple "thing" that shouted out when a police radar was nearby, so warning you to slow down. I haven't seen any in recent years, but ---- were those things actually legal or what?? Anyone know anything or remember them? Link to post Share on other sites

jared 0 Posted March 19, 2003 Share Posted March 19, 2003 they are pretty popular and cheap around here - cheap ones just detect radar and expensive ones track your position by GPS and have all the speed camera positions stored in them and tell you when your close to one. My boss says they are illegal but there are so many around I dont know if I believe her. They are not illegal in NZ and I was surprised to hear they are not allowed in the US. I know radar jammers are banned but I'm not sure about detectors. Link to post Share on other sites
