scouser 4
I used to have a penpal over in Germany and we met up once for a couple of days. It was good fun staying with the German family back then when I could speak hardly any of the lingo.

enderzero 0
I think penpals are a relic of the pre-internet past. I have a lot of forum-friends in Japan, quite a few I have stayed with.
kintaro 0
When I was in Jr. High we had to have a pen friend (we called it pen pal). Mine was from Sri Lanka and he used to write about his desires to blow up his enemies. At that age I thought it was funny. The letters I got really entertained the class...teacher forwarded them to the FBI. Don't know what happened to that kid.
