damian 0
A few weeks ago I read the word "Ameriphobia". I am being serious.

Ocean11 0
http://www.nrbookservice.com/BookPage.asp?prod_cd=c6478 I expect that "Rogue Nation" by Clyde Prestowitz would make a good companion/antidote to this book.
miteyak 0
Currently reading 'blowback'. Another great antidote. Very little hate in this book, but particularly well researched. Considering it's pre 9/11/iraq invasion release, very prophetic. When one hears of all the complaints regarding 'ameriphobia' one can't help but think of the bully who one day discovers that no, he isn't the most popular guy in school, and the collective masses are no longer too scared to speak out. mikazooki 0
i'm also balancing the other end of the scales with chomsky "understanding power" a little wide on simplifications and generalisations, but full of interesting insights.
damian 0
Sweet jesus! I have dribbled a lot today but in all honesty this makes me puke (from NF's post above). http://blugg.com/stuff/foxs_view_of_the_bbc_player.htm To think that Fox is owned by an Australian, well he has actually taken out American citizenship so Australia is saved from shame... I hope.
sunrise 0
If you want to read something really pukeable about ol' Rupie-baby, check this out: http://pilger.carlton.com/media It's a long read, but worth it... by John Pilger.
Davo 1
It's a pretty old sport isn't it? I feel a little sorry for American friends who must be forced at times to listen to diatribe about how bad their country is. I don't hate America but at times I dispair at the way American power and influence impacts on the world.
damian 0
Here is one person's anti-american opinion
Ocean11 0
That's interesting analysis. But when writers say things like "Japan is also getting back on track" they lose some credibility overall. The track that Japan may or may not be getting back on is entirely the wrong one. I have some words of comfort for Americans though. It's not really all that bad living in the seat of a 2nd or 3rd rate power. No need to envy 1st rate powers whatsoever.
Plucky 0
I'm sure a few of you were waiting for me to comment on this. To tell you the truth.....blllahhhhh. Been hearing it for years. Hell, the first time I ever travelled to Europe in 90, cold war getting to be over, people are happy, no matter, Americans weren't well-respected. Through my lifetime it's been a normal thing. Thank goodness most people in Europe still judge you by who you are and not where you're from. Mostly. The US is big. We have our own internal problems between people in our own country. For instance, where I'm from in Oregon, we hate people from California. It's like that through most of the northwest US. Southern people look down on West Virginians or one of the Carolinas don't like people from Pennsylvannia or New York or New Jersey or the NE US. People from Iowa don't like citizens from Texas. That made no sense. don't care. you get it. The US is bigger the Europe, maybe not as distinct, but bigger. We have our conflicts also. Most of us are more proud of the state we live/born in than the country. Hell, in my state, we argue over the north and the south (in only Oregon). These are things I don't think other people realize. There is a lot of pride in the state you live in. You can HATE the US GOVERNMENT, but love your state. It's messed up, but great in my opinion. I find it funny that people in Europe don't see it coming. A bunch of separate states under one currency. Hi, sound familiar? Luckily I speak German so I can move to Canada and live with the Inuit eventually. My point - this world is getting weird......and dumb.

big-will 7
I love America and everything it stands for. It is perfect and without doubt "the greatest country this world has ever seen". Honest. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly biased, jealous, blinkered and having their own America bashfest. And it should be stopped.

dale#1 1
Friend got the book and I'll be reading it for fun over GW hopefully. In the meantime, read some of the "reviews" on amazon.com. Check this one out: "This book reflects exactly was I was suspecting for a long time. America is the best country on Earth and the reaming world just cannot take it. We have saved the world from Fascism, Japanese imperialism socialism, communism and now trying to save it from the extreme Islam and terrorism. That is enough for the whole world to be thankthfull to the US for the centuries to come. They can't take that they own their entire existence to USA. Shame to all of them and thanks to Mr. John Gibson for delivering this message."
