Sho Dan = 1st Dan ( grade 1) Black belt (least experienced) 2 Dan = 2nd and so on all the way up to 8 dan in my style. We must fight to earn up to 4th Dan and after that it's based on service to the sport and stuff like that. I want to get 4th Dan as I want to start a dojo in OZ when I return coz I will miss it too much.
damian 0
2nd dan hey? In that case, I take back anything stupid that I said to you in the past. Lets be friends! (and good work man, but don't forget the surfing).
slow 0
2Dan sounds great!! I'm not familiar with Nihon Kempo. After you learn basic form first, do you fight full contact like Kyokushin Karate?

indosnm 0
Slow, Nihon Kempo is not as popular as seido & kyokushin but It has a pretty huge following. It is especially strong at University level. Our last chubu Taikai had 770 entrants in all age divisions. We wear a boug ( helmet, body protector, chin chin protector & boxing gloves) The aim is to score 2 points by striking either the head (1 pt) or the body (1pt). You can only score 1 pt at a time. Although we wear a helmet I have been clocked a few times that have left me eating out of a straw the next few days after! heres a pic i found on the net, just to give you an idea. indosnm 0
jujitsu is everywhere here. Should get back into it! I would like to try something new like Muay Thai without all the protection.. that would be fun!
slow 0
Thanks for the photo, So, Nihon Kempo is nothing like Shorinji Kempo or art of self-defense. miteyak 0
Come to Osaka for the full contact Karate... many smaller clubs formed, considering Kyokushin to be a bit soft and fluffy... ps congrats on the nidan...
damian 0
I think Miteyak and Indo should have a fight. It could be the first round in the SJ Gaijin Blood 2005 fighting series. Waddya think? If it is a success we could get some other big guys like Blair Anderson-san involved. Sounds like a winner to me.
miteyak 0
I'm outta that now, but if the price is right i'll take a fall...
